WSOP Announces One Online Bracelet Event for Michigan and Pennsylvania

In the middle of last month, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) announced the return of the 2023 WSOP Online bracelet series exclusive for U.S. players. With the announcement came the schedule for the event in Nevada and New Jersey.

The two states share a player pool. The online bracelet event was scheduled to start on September 10 and run through October 17. It featured 33 online bracelets to be won by Nevada and New Jersey players.

WSOP also noted that Pennsylvania and Michigan would also have their online bracelet events. Unfortunately, the details about the event were undisclosed at that time.

One month later, Michigan and Pennsylvania players have the details of their bracelet event. Unfortunately, it is unlikely this is what players from these states were looking forward to.

Unlike Nevada and New Jersey, players from Michigan and Pennsylvania only have one online bracelet event to play this fall. The event is scheduled for October 15 and features a guaranteed prize pool of $150,000. Players will need a buy-in of $1,000 to participate in the $150,000 Mystery Bounty Championship.

Mystery Bounty Series

One event is better than none, right? The Mystery Bounty Championship is not entirely a single event. WSOP is returning the Mystery Bounty series to help players prepare for the highlight event.

The series is exclusively for Michigan and Pennsylvania players and kicks off on September 24 and runs through October 1. There will be two or more tournaments every day.

The Mystery Bounty series features 17 tournaments structured in the Mystery Bounty format. The lowest buy-in is $30, while the highest is $1,000. Meanwhile, the guarantee for the series is over $50,000.

For as little as $215, Michigan and Pennsylvania players will get a shot at the Main Event with a guarantee of $40,000. The highlight of the series is scheduled for October 1. There will be a High Roller event scheduled for the same day with a buy-in of $1,000 for a prize pool of $30,000.

Ideally, there are eight events whose buy-ins are below $100. Each of these events has a guaranteed prize pool of at least $3,000.

Mystery Bounty Championship

Like the Mystery Bounty series, this event will also feature the Mystery Bounty format. This is where players compete for random bounties. The highest bounty is $21,000.

The championship begins with each player having a stack of 30,000 chips. Blinds will grow every 15 minutes, while the Mystery Bounty feature will kick off at level 18. Each player has three opportunities to reenter the event for the first 4.5 hours.

It is not clear why WSOP is hosting only one online bracelet event for Michigan and Pennsylvania players. Previously, WSOP hosted a summer series of seven online bracelet events for Michigan and Pennsylvania. Last year, WSOP hosted six online bracelets for Michigan and Pennsylvania during the second leg of the series.

Canada has eight online bracelets to look forward to. The series is available courtesy of WSOP Ontario and GGPoker. While it might be disappointing to play only one online bracelet event, WSOP probably had a reason and might explain later.
