Paul Volpe came out as a winner in the Championship event that is part of 2018 World Series of Poker. It is his third bracelet, and he won it in Event #9, which is known as $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship.
Volpe was already in possession of two more WSOP bracelets which he had before reaching the final table. He made a record by overcoming a colleague of his, Eli Elezra. By having the third bracelet, Volpe added another thing to his already outstanding resume in Poker.
Volpe Struggles In The Beginning

The beginning of the competition was difficult for Volpe as he was not always in the lead. In fact, when there were only four players left, everyone had an equal chance for the victory at one point. Furthermore, there was a trade in the chip lead for a couple of times before Volpe took the lead and finished the game.
It was clear that Elezra and Volpe will remain the only two players that will go to the end as soon as Viacheslav Zhukov dropped out in the fifth place. He was the only one who brought some serious competition to the two players.
Volpe added that he had also been aware of the fact that he and Eli have an equal chance after Zhukov got out since they had been the most experienced players there with the almost equal amount of chips at that moment.
The amount that the bracelet cashes out to is approximately $3 million, and it is expected from Volpe to get more bracelets in the future. However, he does not state that he will also compete for the player of the year and it seems that he has different plans. Namely, Volpe stated that he definitely wanted to play more tournaments and see how he felt on the whole “player of the year” thing.
About the Championship
There were 169 entrants, and the prize pool was $1,588,600. The top 26 spots were the ones that had a share of the prize pool, and the bubble burst happened on the second day when Daniel Ratigan left as the last empty-handed player. Day three started with 22 players and the last day started with the best six players.
The last day of the tournament took place in the PokerGO Feature Table, and Elezra was the one to enter it with the most chips. After him and Volpe remained, Volpe had a great lead in chips, and the hand that resolved everything involved Volpe’s flopping the bottom end of the straight while Elezra had only middle pair and belly buster. Elezra congratulated Volpe stating that he had “run like god” in the championship.
The names that came after Volpe ($417,921) and Elezra ($258,297) are Adam Coats ($181,374), Kyle Miaso ($129,648), Viacheslav Zhukov ($94,730), and Dustin Dirksen ($69,971).
