Allen Shen and Daniel Negreanu clashed in the 2023 PokerGO Tour (PGT) PLO Series $5,000 bounty event. But, Shen outwitted Negreanu to win his maiden live poker title and the $91,290 top prize.
The Canadian pot-limit Omaha expert got an extra $36,000 payout after cashing 18 bounties. It exceeded the $20,000 he won after finishing 13th in the series kickoff tournament and the $14,049 he received after winning last December’s World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online Circuit pot-limit Omaha tournament.
Besides winning the title, Shen amassed 91 PGT points and 624 Card Player Player of the Year (POY) points. The Hendon Mob indicates that Negreanu has over $49.7 million in lifetime poker cashes.
He garnered 70 PGT points and took home $69,810 after finishing second. It was the poker legend’s eighth PGT event cash this year. Negreanu has over $500,000 in earnings, and 396 points improved his position on the PGT leaderboard to fourth place.
Shen won most of his bounties at ARIA Resort & Casino’s PokerGO Studio on Day 1. They were 16 out of 18 bounties. He informed PokerGO reporters after his victory that winning the bounties was important to him, and it didn’t matter which moment during the tournament that he would get them.
Instead, Shen gambled up in the first levels and took negative chip spots while hunting bounties. His strategy helped him be the day’s largest stack with 9,495,000 chips when the action ended. Negreanu was second with a 5,460,000 stack.

What Happened on the Last Day?
Ky Nguyen began the final day’s eliminations when he ended Nathan Zimnik’s run in sixth place with $26,850. Yet, the former got busted next after Negreanu’s straight beat his top set. Nguyen won $32,220.
Negreanu collected more chips when his pocket queens defeated Isaac Kempton’s pocket jacks after making an all-in move. The latter finished fourth with $37,590. Negreanu later used a turn straight in an all-in move against Joseph Cheong’s straight chip outs and flush draw.
The river revealed a brick, and Cheong’s run ended in third place, setting up a heads-up match between Shen and Negreanu. Both players exchanged the lead several times before Shen got a huge chip advantage when his pocket aces earned him a set after the chips got on the flop as Negreanu held two pair.
The latter doubled up, moved all in, and a JDiamond Suit5Spade Suit2Spade Suit flop put him at risk of getting busted. Shen used Spade Suit5Heart Suit4Heart Suit3Spade Suit to get an open-ended straight draw, flush draw, and top two pair while Negreanu used AHeart SuitADiamond Suit10Club Suit8Heart Suit to get an overpair.
Negreanu got top set from an ASpade Suit turn and Shen improved to a flush. The former finished second after the QSpade Suit failed to pair the board.
