Mississippi’s Horseshoe Tunica recently hosted a World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) main event. Trace Henderson, a Gulfport resident, was the last player seated at the table. He won his second gold ring and the $132,846 first-place prize.
The poker pro won his first gold ring in 2019 at the $400 Eight-Max No-Limit Hold’em tournament in Biloxi. Reports state that he has $762,324 in poker career earnings now.
Henderson informed the WSOPC reporters after the event that he was overjoyed after finally winning the tournament despite participating in it several times. He revealed that his parents attended the tournament to cheer him, something they rarely do. Even so, his mother likes watching competitive poker games, and she keeps in touch with him, inquiring about his progress.
The player always promised his parents that he would travel to southern states like Mississippi to compete. He was glad to fulfill his promise and win the Horseshoe Tunic stop event, which had more than two starting flights.
It attracted 418 players who formed a $633,270 prize pool. Still, the leading 62 entrants won at least $2,519 each, including Will Givens, Shane Bissinger, Michael Esquivel, Kyle Cartwright, and Eric Sutton.
Unfortunately, none of them advanced to the final table.

The Final Day’s Highlights
Only 43 players out of the initial 418 proceeded to Day 2. They battled it out for several hours before setting a six-handed table. Henderson was the stack leader when the tournament’s final day’s action kicked off.
His stack was almost twice that of the second player on the chip standings. Henderson sent Dale Humphrey packing in the sixth position. His great run extended as he ended Dalton Fry’s run in fifth place and increased his chip lead.
Steve McCluskey outperformed Andrew Groendal in one hand and busted them in fourth place. The former collected more chips and got the lead in three-handed action.
Henderson sent Marshall White packing in the third position and reduced his chip gap with McCluskey. But, McCluskey collected more chips and broadened the lead to over 5:1. Henderson didn’t give up as he used elevated blinds to regain the stack lead and formed big pots in many hands.
His move prompted McCluskey to use pocket sixes to face Henderson’s KSpade SuitQSpade Suit in an all-in confrontation. Yet, the board ran out 10Diamond Suit9Heart Suit2Spade Suit4Club SuitQDiamond Suit, earning Henderson the tournament and pot on the river.
McCluskey finished second with $82,102. Harrah’s Cherokee will host the next WSOPC tournament between May 4 and May 15. A $1,700 buy-in Main Event will kick off on May 11.
