WPT Global is raising the stakes in the online poker world, and it’s doing so in a way that will be rewarding to the top players in the industry. The first ever WPT Global Player of the Year Leaderboard began back on Christmas Eve, and players have until November 24th to try to earn points.
WPT Global has customers from all over the world that compete in tournaments online, but now those players will be competing for points as well. There are other online poker groups that have a similar offering, but the way points are earned for this leaderboard is a bit different.
A total of $250,000 in prizes is up for grabs with this leaderboard, and not all of the prizes are simply going to be cash. Finishing the year on top will unlock a prize package of $100,000, and there are some offers available.
There is still time for players to check out WPT Global and start earning points, but there are only select events in which points are handed out. Here is a look at some of the top prizes and where points can be earned.
Massive Prizes Available
Earning the top spot in this yearlong contest will come with some great rewards, which includes more than $25,000 in cash, and $25,000 in tournament dollars. The winner will also receive 4 WPT Passports, and that adds up to $50,000 in value.
Pushing for the top spot is something that players want to do, because the prize package for second and third place is just $25,000 total. That prize is once again divided up between cash and WPT Passports.
Each of the top-100 players that finish on the leaderboard will receive a prize from WPT Global, but there won’t be a ton of cash handed out. The final 40 finishers are going to receive $250 in tournament dollars, which can be redeemed for future events.
Players have already been working their way up the leaderboard, but not every tournament from WPT Global is going to come with a chance to win some prizes.
Look For Select Events
WPT Global is known for having some great online poker tournaments throughout the year, but some of the smaller tournaments will not come with a chance to earn any points. Players should also be looking for tournaments with large buy-ins as that will increase the potential of earning points.
The WPT Global Seasonal Events are one way to earn points to climb up the leaderboard, and those events take place four times per year. There are also mid-season festivals put on by WPT Global that come with many tournaments, and that’s another way to rack up the prizes.
The buy-in amount is going to be the base in which a player can earn points, but that only happens with a top-six finish. There is a multiplier awarded to each place, and that will allow players to cash in and move up the standings.
