William Kopp entertained his trail when he bagged $259,549 and a gold bracelet at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Eight-or-Better Event. Still, the player showcased his prowess when he won the recent 2023 WSOP Circuit Harrah’s Cherokee $1,700 Buy-In No-Limit Hold’em Main Event, receiving his third WSOPC ring and the $376,154 top prize.

The tournament had $1,623 entrants who formed a $2,458,845 prize pool. Kopp’s victory increased his lifetime poker event earnings to over $1.7 million. The champion garnered 1,080 Card Player Player of the Year (POY) points. It was his fifth final-table finish and third title in 2023.

Reports state that Kopp has 3,075 total POY points and almost $824,000 POY earnings now. Yet, only the leading 236 players won money including Asher Conniff, Will Jaffe, Michael Scarborough, and Daniel Scroggins.

How the Table Played

Kopp was the stack leader when the remaining ten players set the unofficial final table. Shane Melert, Robert Browning, and Ivan Starostin got busted in 10th, ninth, and eighth place respectively. Kopp used A-9 to face Omar Hafeez’s A-Q.

The former got a nine-high straight when chips got in preflop and busted Hafeez in seventh place with $62,535. JW Wilder used the top pair of queens to make an all-in call on the turn and clashed with Brian Jones’ overcard and open-ended straight draw.

Jones’ straight beat Wilder’s run on the river and busted him in the sixth position with $79,906. The former took part in another big pot.

He used A-K to put his chips in and face Jorge Arriola’s pocket kings. Arriola missed the case king on the river or turn and finished fifth.

Lam Nguyen used A-2 to lead Kopp’s K-Q. But, a king-high runout sent Nguyen packing in the fourth position. Preston McEwen’s pocket sixes lost to Kopp’s pocket aces and he finished third with $175,713, hence increasing his poker earnings to about $1.5 million.

McEwen’s elimination kicked off heads-up action between Jones and Kopp, with Kopp having a slight lead. He beat Jones in a battle of the blinds and had an over 2:1 chip advantage. Kopp maintained the lead and extended it before the dealer dealt the tournament’s final hand.

Jones used JDiamond Suit5Diamond Suit to make a button shove before Kopp used 9Heart Suit9Diamond Suit to call. The board ran out KSpade Suit6Diamond Suit2Diamond Suit10Heart Suit4Club Suit as Kopp faded Jones’ flush draw to secure the title. The latter finished second with $232,481.
