Alexandre Vuilleumier recently bagged the first 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet after winning the $25,000 buy-in six-max no-limit hold ’em tournament. It featured 207 players, and the champion increased his poker career earnings to over $2.1 million after winning the $1,215,864 first-place prize.
Vuilleumier has reached two final tables this year and won two titles. He topped an 87-entry field in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $10,150 six-max event and won $237,000. The two victories earned him 1,740 Card Player Player of the Year (POY) points making him tie in the 75th position with David Yan and Giorgiy Skhulukhiya.
The Las Vegas Strip’s Paris and Horseshoe properties hosted the tournament between May 30 and June 1. Its top 32 players got a share of the $4,864,500 prize pool.
Some of the entrants who missed a final table seat but cashed included Justin Bonomo, Koray Aldemir, Espen Jorstad, Daniel Negreanu, Chris Brewer, Adrian Mateos, Elior Sion, Jake Schindler, Andrew Lichtenberger, and Keith Lehr.

The Final Table’s Action
Joey Weissman sat at the final table with the least chips and was the first finalist to leave the event. He used pocket kings to put his stack in the middle and lost to Vuilleumier’s lowly J-3 offsuit.
Vuilleumier made a full house by the river, and a trip threes flop, which ended Weissman’s run in sixth place. Ren Lin lost many chips after trying a triple-barrel bluff which Chance Kornuth picked using king-high.
Sean Winter lost many big blinds after a few minutes to Vuilleumier, whose two pair beat his rivered second pair. Winter didn’t give up and made two double-ups that prolonged his run.
Lin used A-10 suited to face Kornuth’s pocket kings. They improved to quads on the turn and busted Lin in the fifth position. Winter’s K-10 earned him a preflop against Axel Hallay’s pocket sevens.
The latter used Q-3 suited to wager his remaining chips, but Winter’s K-Q dominated. Winter made a king flop while avoiding Hallay’s flush draw, sending him packing in fourth place.
Even so, Winter exited the event in the third position after a few minutes after using 9Diamond Suit6Heart Suit to check in a 9Heart Suit4Diamond Suit2Spade Suit flop while Vuilleumier used 10Club Suit9Spade Suit to wager a big blind. The latter called, and the 5Club Suit landed on the turn.
Vuilleumier sent Winter packing in third place and cashed with Kornuth in heads-up action having a 19,800,000:11,300,000 chip advantage. But, the JDiamond Suit10Club Suit8Diamond Suit9Heart SuitJSpade Suit board gave Vuilleumier a queen-high straight that eliminated Kornuth as a runner-up with $751,463.
