Richardson Wins WSOP Circuit Thunder Valley Main Event

The poker room at Thunder Valley, a casino located in Lincoln, Calif., hosted the 2019 World Series of Poker Circuit for the fifth time over the weekend. The tournament wrapped up with the conclusion of the $1,700 Main Event, which Paul Richardson managed to win for a total of $130,667.

Richardson had made it to the final table of this event three times before, and he finally managed to snatch the trophy that he has been after for a very long time. He ended up fourth twice and eighth once, and the year of 2019 was definitely his time to shine and end things the way he wanted.

The thing about Thunder Valley Casino is that you cannot find number four in it. Some Asian nations believe that four is an unlucky number and tend to avoid it, which is the same thing for this casino — Tetraphobia is the term you are looking for.

However, it’s always interesting to see these small and interesting peculiarities such as Richardson reaching the final table three times and winning it for the fourth one. It seems like fate was playing with numbers once again.

A total of 414 players applied for this event, and Richardson managed to outlast them all. Moreover, he did not hesitate to share his feelings and thoughts with the press after the victory. First of all, he stated that the feeling was fantastic, and then he added that he had been playing poker for a very long time, getting better and better with years. Finally, he commented on the final table, saying that there was a lot of pressure and a lot of gambling coming from all players.

Richardson was not consistent throughout the tournament, though. He said that although he did not manage to be consistent all the time, he still felt good and kept telling himself to play his game and stick to his strategy. Finally, he concluded that he had tried not to think about the game too much but just play his way and enjoy it.

The Final Table Results

Richardson and Arish Nat started heads-up play prepared, but Richardson had an advantage because he had a 2-1 chip lead. However, it was not an easy task, as Nat managed to even things out, making the game last for a while. Nevertheless, Richardson won in the end, with Nat earning a total of $80,761.
