RTE Broadcaster Gerry Ryan has been giving evidence for the defense in the trial of a Clare woman and a Egyptian poker dealer that were accused of conspiring to murder her partner and his two sons. Ryan was asked by lawyers for Sharon Collins about two emails that she sent in to the show in relation to personal matters, according to the State.
Sharon Collins is 45 years old and is from Kildysart Road in Ennis and Essam Eid is 52 years old and is from Las Vegas and both are denying conspiring to murder Mr. Howard and his sons back in 2006.
Gerry Ryan took the stand and said that he had no recollection of the emails which the state says were sent on April 4th and 7th in 2006. He also told the court that Gardai never contacted him to question him about the emails or try to retrieve them.
On June 30th the court heard that two automatic replies were sent to the address sharoncollins@eircom.net on the above dates from the Gerry Ryan show. Ms. Collins has denied sending the emails to the show and claims she deleted them.
The jury was informed that the emails were found on the hard drive of an Iridium laptop computer that was seized by Gardai from Mr. PJ Howard’s house. She also said that she found herself in an unbearable situation and accuse PJ Howard of using prostitutes and transvestites while he was in his holiday home in Spain.
