Partypoker LIVE MILLIONS UK is Over – Angelou-Konstas Wins!

After lasting for five days, the Main Event of the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS UK has come to an end – and it was spectacular! We saw a lot of great poker action, just like we expected while patiently waiting for the Main Event to begin. One man, however, takes the most of it, and that’s the winner Ioannis Angelou-Konstas. He managed to beat an enormous field of 1,014 entrants and gave us a night to remember during the final day when he played the heads-up against the poker legend Alex Foxen. Angelou-Konstas managed to win a total of £940,000 which is a bit more than $1.2 million.

The player from Greece was pretty excited about his victory. He was not really able to talk and the first sentence he uttered was that he was in complete shock over the victory. He then added that he was really trying to compose himself during the last two days. He had the chip lead but he was aware that the victory was nowhere near. However, Angelou-Konstas managed to keep up with the great play until the very end, but he also admitted that he had gotten lucky as well.

The reason for his shock was somewhat natural. When you reach the final table of the event as big as this one, you are facing the best poker players in the world. Some of the other names that made it to the very end are Antoine Labat, Tom Hall, Michael Want, Sam Grafton, Ryan Riess, Dara O’Kearney, and John Haigh. They were all the members of the final table who tried to take a shot at the biggest cash prize on the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS UK tournament. However, the Greek was the one to combine both the skills and the luck and take it all home.

Before we proceed to the heads-up action, let’s see how much the players mentioned above took. The ninth place was occupied by Ryan Riess who earned a total of £50,000. Dara O’Kearey, the only person from Ireland who made it to the top eight, hit the rail with £70,000. The seventh place was occupied by John Haigh with a nice sum of £100,000. Michael Wang was sixth with £140,000 and Sam Grafton fifth with £205,850. The fourth place was reserved for Tom Hall who was the last remaining player from the United Kingdom. Hall earned as much as £300,000. The Frenchmen Antoine Labat also had a great night and finished third with £440,000.

After the first ten minutes of heads-up, Foxen managed to double up his chips and the players struck a deal to share the final sum. Foxen would get £720,000 and Angelou-Konstas £840,000. The winner would take the additional £100,000 and the trophy. After twenty minutes, the decisive hand occurred where Angelou-Konstas managed to hit the straight over the pocket eights that Foxen had.
