The first champion of an 888poker LIVE Main Event in Russia has emerged, and his name is Vasiliy Tsapko. He had an opportunity to win an amazing trophy in this event that required a symbolic buy-in of $888 (which was paid in Russian rubles). The event attracted a total of 569 entries and took place at a great casino in Sochi, which is simply called Casino Sochi.
During the heads-up part of the game, Tsapko and his fellow countryman, Leonid Semenyuk, decided to make a deal and share a big chunk of the prize pool which was 35,000,000 RUB.
After winning the event, Tsapko earned a total of 5,006,050 RUB (approximately $77,000), and Semenyuk had to take a somewhat smaller reward of 4,463,200 RUB (approximately $68,600).
Before taking part in this event, Tsapko had a total of $200k in cashes from playing live circuit games. Apart from the trophy and the money, he also received a great package worth $12,500, which includes a seat for the 2020 WSOP Main Event. This gift was a courtesy of the WSOP, which is one of the sponsors for 888poker events.
The Russian online grinder is not a stranger to the World Series of Poker Main Event. In fact, he took part in it back in 2011 and ended up in 131st place.
The Final Table Score
The first player to hit the rail in ninth place was Vartan Manuhcaryan, who won a total of 631,750 RUB. The next one to follow was Ravil Khamatgareev in eighth place for 704,900 RUB. Sixth place was taken by Aleksandr Chernikov who won 821,450 RUB, and he was soon followed by Anton Konovalof for 1,330,000 RUB. Fourth place was reserved for Konstantin Lichagin, who won a total of 1,852,200.
The only player registered outside of Russia, Maksym Lavrov, ended up third. The player from Ukraine earned a total of 2,543,800 RUB, leaving Semenyuk and Tsapko to compete for the first prize.
Both Tspako and Semenyuk were at the top of their game, and it was somewhat expected that the two would eventually end up in the heads-up part of the tournament. Despite the fact that Semenyuk was last in chips at the start of the final day, he managed to double up and make it to the very end, sending some players to the rail along the way. However, Tsapko was the last obstacle he couldn’t overcome.
About the Tournament
The first 888poker LIVE festival went really well, and it was conducted in collaboration with Poker Club Management. There were more than 30 events that lasted for eight days in a luxurious casino located in the Krasnaya Polyana mountains. Approximately $1 million of prizes was distributed in these events, and the biggest part of it went to the Main Event.
