Players at PartyPoker are now able to see a new tab on the website that highlights the “Big Quarter” event, but that name doesn’t really have anything to do with the game. A quarter is not going to be used to enter the event, and it doesn’t reflect the time of year that it’s being played either.
While the name of the event might not make a ton of sense, it’s one that many players are going to want to check out. This tournament is not going to be one that the top poker players will want to get involved with, but it’s perfect for low stakes players.
A Look at the Event
The buy-in for this event is just $11, and that’s much lower than most of the tournaments that are offered from PartyPoker. Since the buy-in is much lower than what is typically found, the prize pool is going to be much less as well.
There will be just $200,000 in guaranteed prize money available, but that amount could grow depending on the amount of interest that is there. While this is a small prize pool compared to other massive events, it’s rare to see so much being paid out with a buy-in of just $11.
Action has already started in this event, and the next level is set to begin on February 11 and February 18th. PartyPoker has built in some additional time for the qualifying rounds, as the top players won’t start competing until the beginning of May.
Day 2 of the finals is set to take place on May 5th, and the action will last until there are just 24 players remaining. Those remaining 24 players will log back in on May 6th or a chance to win the big prize.
Even though it’s expected that this event will be full of low-stakes players, there could be some big names that end up getting in on the action.
Plenty of Freerolls
For those players that don’t want to pay the $11 to get into the “Big Quarter” event, there is another way to get involved with the main tournament. There are satellite events taking place all throughout the month of February, and a free entry into the event is the top prize.
Not only that, but there are also some freeroll satellite tournaments out there that players can enter for free. Since the buy-in price is free for those events, it’s expected that there will be plenty of people getting into the action.
PartyPoker just continues to deliver some great opportunities for its customers, and this is a great way to generate some excitement. There will be bigger events coming from PartyPoker, but this is a great option for low stakes players.
