The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has released the August report for gaming revenues in the state. Included in the report were the earnings from online poker gaming. As compared to July, the state saw a 5% increase in revenue earnings with a total of $1.983 million from online poker. Online casino games continued to do well at just over $10 million but saw a slight decrease of 3.8% when compared to July’s earnings. The total online gaming revenues were slightly decreased as well by 2.5%.
The top earner of online revenues in the state continues to be Borgata and Party Poker, who took just over thirty percent in the total earnings. Caesars Interactive was third in overall gaming earnings, falling just short of Tropicana, who sits in second place with total online gaming revenues. The Golden Nugget/Betfair combination took the fourth spot, with a small decrease from July earnings.
RESORTS is in on the action as well see a small increase in revenues, but only taking just over six percent of the overall online earnings. It has been rumored that PokerStars will be entering the market, possibly by October, so it will definitely be interesting to see how they compare when officially launched. Will the brand be able to use their notoriety to push to the top in earnings or will they slowly build a player base and remain at the bottom once revenue reports are released?
Party and Borgata continue to reign supreme when it comes to online poker, but PokerStars could definitely give them a run for their money. When comparing the month to month totals from 2014 to 2015, the state saw a decrease of twelve percent from $2.25 million earned in 2014 to $1.98 million earned in 2015.
Industry analysts now wait to see if PokerStars will launch and how it will affect the overall earnings in the state. Other individual states are also looking at the earnings of New Jersey as a tool to consider legislation of their own. The online gaming industry is slowly growing in the United States with New Jersey definitely at the forefront.
