WSOP.com players in the state of Nevada were subject to a shutdown of the site yesterday due to a new software upgrade. The site was updating the online poker software to provide better functionality with many enhancements for online game play. The site was supposed to be down for 8 hours as the software changes were made.
According to several reports as well as a thread at the TwoPlusTwo forum, the update would include enhancements that would be added but some changes not ready to go live as of yet. The changes either have to be approved or a logistical component is needed before the option can be activated. Bill Rini, the Head of Online Poker at WSOP, made the announcement on the popular poker forum.
Once these obstacles are cleared, the new enhancements will be activated and provide a better player experience. After the update, the WSOP option in Nevada will be using the GeoComply location solution that is currently being used in New Jersey. The Wi-Fi based technology is almost 100% efficient in helping players log on within the states borders, as according to CEO of GeoComply, Anna Sainsbury.
As of now, the upgrades that are available will feature rebuy/add-on enhancements, log out reminder for SNG tournament, additional tournament information available in lobby view and last hand quick view. A change that is coming soon is the ability to make withdrawals from Caesars properties in Las Vegas. As of now, players can make deposits and could do so after speaking with a customer service rep from WSOP. Now, players will soon be able to make deposits by first initiating an email. These options are set to go live by the end of this month or the beginning of September.
Also on the table is mobile gaming. Applications for Android and iOS devices have been submitted for regulatory approval and once approved, will go live for players to enjoy.
