“MrGambol” Wins His Super MILLION$ Title for $324,053

A player from Austria nicknamed “MrGambol” officially became the champion of the GGPoker’s Super MILLION$ after defeating Niklas Astedt in the heads-up play. Astedt set his mind to winning a title at the popular online poker festival, but he failed to achieve his goals despite his deep runs.

The field consisted of 154 entries and was narrowed down to the final nine on October 25. Most of them were poker superstars who resumed the action on October 27 in order to play for the final prize. GGPoker’s official channel was live-streaming the game on Twitch.

Let’s take a look at the final table action and how it unfolded.

The Final Table Action

The first player to hit the rail was from Mexico who uses the online moniker “Nator.” They started the final table on the bottom of the leaderboard but managed to double up and improve at the start.

However, Astedt managed to make them wager all their chips only to make Nator hit the rail with a total of $42,423. This was a promising start for Astor, as he scored the first elimination.

The next player to leave the game was Russia’s “RRomashka” who qualified for the final tournament via a $100 satellite, meaning the original investment was turned into $54,713. The Russian first lost to Georgios Manousos and had only one big blind left, which Artur Martirosian used to raid 88,000 UTG at 20,000/40,000/5,000.

Manousos decided to call all-in for 48,165, and Mark Radoja also called. The flop was trey-ten-ace, which means Radoja had a top and bottom pair, so pocket fives that Martiosian had in his pocket weren’t useful anymore. On the other hand, “RRomashka” managed to pair a ten in their pocket. Martirosian eventually decided to fold after Radoja check-raising to 208,000, but “RRomashka” remained in the game only to hit the rail soon after that for $54,713.

Players continued to lose their chips, and the next one in line was Joao Vieira, the popular poker player who managed to win a total of $70,542. The previously successful Georgios Manousos was the next in line, ending up sixth for $90,952.

Final Five

Finishing in fifth place was the Russian poker sensation Artur Martirosian, who was the first player to land a six-figure score after failing in his clash with Astedt. Martirosian was eliminated when Astedt managed to land a straight on the river.

Mark Radoja seemed like he was a serious contender for the throne, but he eventually ended up in fourth place, winning a total of $151,193. The last player to leave the game before the heads-up could start was Michael Addamo, who won $194,937 for his effort.

At the start of the one-on-one duel, Astedt had about 10.5 million in chips against “MrGambol’s” 4.7 million. However, he failed to use the advantage, and the two players engaged in a back-and-forth for a while before “MrGambol” managed to deal the final blow.
