Saturday night was reserved for 2020 World Series of Poker Event #4, which was a No-Limit Hold’em Super Turbo event that required a buy-in of $500. A total of 828 unique runners applied for the event, and 351 rebuys were recorded, which resulted in a field of 1,179 entries. The prize pool created for Event #4 was $540,550, and it lasted for a bit less than six hours.
In the end, it was a player named Matt Bode who took the trophy and the lion’s share of the prize pool. “Bodeyster” managed to earn a total of $97,091, in addition to a gold bracelet, one of the biggest accolades in the poker industry.
Bode is not a professional poker player. He is a behavioral therapist and even managed to achieve a substantial result in sports, being a U23 WFDF gold medal winner. However, he also happens to be an online poker player and MTT grinder.
The tournament bubbled when a player nicknamed “Allergic2Avg” dropped out in 181st place. Some of the players who made it to the money list but failed to reach the final tables are Jon “havuuuuuc” Turner, Ben “WhyIsGamora” Yu, Michael “miguelfiesta” Lech, and Mike “mouth123” Matusow.
The Final Table Results
The final table consisted of nine players, and the first one to hit the rail was Jason “Daluxxx” Luxenberg, who won a total of $7,162 for his effort. After that, it was time for Shawn “Saygoodnight” Daniels to say good night, with $9,338 in his pocket.
The next one in line was Ryan “Whosyourdodd” Dodd, who ended up with $12,362, only to be followed by David “DrJayTrotter” Bernsen, who was sixth and earned a total of $16,500 for his effort. Fifth place was taken for a player Kevin “ImaLuckSac” MacPhee, who earned $22,389. After that, it was time for Frank “spaghetti” Marasco to hit the rail with a total of $30,772 in winnings.
The last player to hit the rail before the heads-up play was Caitlin “KTUUUH” Dillon, who won $42,603. Matt Bode’s final opponent was Brian “XcrazylegsX” Frasca, who won $59,952 for his effort.
This marked the end of the fourth event that’s part of the WSOP Online tournament. The tournament started on July 1 and will last all the way through September 6.
Since the original WSOP was postponed for fall due to the coronavirus pandemic, WSOP officials wanted to offer an alternative for the summer. This resulted in WSOP Online — an 84-event tournament that will take place on WSOP.com and GGPoker.
These events will offer players an opportunity to win a gold bracelet, just like Matt Bode did in this event. The next event in line is Event #5, which will be a $1,000 NLH Freezeout.
