Colby Covington, a UFC Star, Wins the 2022 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open

Colby Covington, a top Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight fighter, is enjoying himself at the tables in the 2022 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open. The fighter won $25,875 in the $1,100 Buy-In Pot-Limit Omaha/8 tournament, and the Hendon Mob recorded it as his third live poker event.

His Numerous Knockouts

The event had 84 entrants. Yet, none of them managed to knockout Covington. Besides, this wasn’t the fighter’s first big score of the week, as he won $48,295 after finishing seventh in the $400 Deep Stack No-Limit Hold’em with 7,703 entrants.

The 2022 tournament was his third Hendon Mob live poker tournament. The other tournaments he won include the tournament in Florida, where he won $25,875, and the Omaha/8 event with a $1,100 buy-in pot limit.

The Seminole Hard Rock Open Tournament has 84 contestants. Colby’s win was the highlight of the weekly score as none of all the entrants was able to knock out the experienced player.

Colby said he wanted to prove that his previous wins were not a fluke and that he could compete with some of the best poker players globally. The player was able to prove that his skills go beyond martial arts.

The fact that the tournament was so close to home made Colby Covington’s win more important. During a press release, he revealed that the casino where the tournament was held was his home casino, where he loved playing.

Covington was amongst the 11 entrants who cashed their win. David Shmuel was behind Colby Covington with $15,890, followed by Salvatore Pipitone in third place with a prize of $9,985.

Colby revealed that one of his most excellent winning strategies was to avoid entering posts against Phil Hui. Phil Hui is a three-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner.

He emerged in fourth place in the Seminole Hard Rock tournament, winning $6,680. Hui’s strategy worked as Colby won his first live poker tournament since 2018.

Covington’s Talents and Public Sentiments on His Careers

Colby Covington’s talent as a UFC Fighter has been one of his most popular trademarks. There are only two significant defeats that Colby has experienced as a fighter.

Both defeats were from Usman Kamaru. Albeit the defeats, Coly is 17-1 in the octagon.

The public has developed a love-hate relationship with Colby Covington. He is loved for his talents in martial arts and poker, but many still disagree with his political stands, such as supporting the former U.S President, Donald Trump.

The ongoing feud between Colby Covington and his fellow MMA fighter and former friend Jorge Masvidal has put a strain between him and his fans. Covington defeated Jorge through an undisputed decision at UFC 272 in March.

The friendship between Jorge and Colby started over ten years ago when Jorge started mentoring Colby when he was still a young fighter. The two had a strong bond, but currently, their fallout is considered one of the nastiest feuds in the history of UFC.
