Phil Hellmuth is a renowned Hall of Famer with 51 titles, including 16 World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelets. Yet, the poker legend hasn’t managed to win the PokerGO Tour (PGT) for a long time, until March 29 when he won the U.S. Poker Open (USPO) $10,500 buy-in no-limit Hold’em tournament using six-high straight flush.
He received $211,200 and the title. Hellmuth’s latest win increased his lifetime poker tournament earnings to over $25.3 million. Still, he amassed 480 Card Player Player of the Year(POY) points and 211 PGT points that improved his position in the current PGT race to sixth place.

How Things Unfolded on Day 2
ARIA Resort & Casino’s PokerGO Studio hosted the two-day poker tournament. Seven players advanced to the final day, Jeremy Ausmus leading with the largest stack.
Darren Elias, a four-time World Poker Tour (WPT) main event champion, left the table early after Ausmus’ A-K suited beat his A-5 suited. A brick on the river ended his run fast despite getting a backdoor flush draw.
Allan Le followed Elias in sixth place after his A-Q suited failed to hold Hellmuth’s pocket sevens. The latter’s A-K suited dominated Aram Oganyan’s A-Q. The chips went in preflop as Hellmuth extended his lead using a king flop and sent Oganyan packing in the fifth position.
The former overtook Ausmus in the chip standings. His A-J beat Goerge Wolff’s A-Q suited. Hellmuth landed a jack on the turn while avoiding straight outs and sent Wolff packing in the fourth position.
Lonis doubled up Jeremy Ausmus. But, the latter doubled back and reduced the former’s stack, prompting him to use A-3 from the button to shove his remaining 14 big blinds.
Hellmuth used K-J to call from the big blind as a king-high sent Lonis packing in the third position. The latter’s exit set up a heads-up match between Hellmuth and Ausmus. Hellmuth had a 6,820,000:4,180,000 chip advantage.
Ausmus bluffed Hellmuth on rivered trips on a three-spades board and straight. But, the latter used ace-high to make a three-bet shove over the former’s backdoor outs and queen high. Hellmuth won a crucial pot.
He had a 7:4 chip lead when the final hand started. Ausmus used QClub Suit10Diamond Suit to make a 50,000 limp on the button. Hellmuth used 6Club Suit2Club Suit to check dark.
The flop turned 10Club Suit5Club Suit4Club Suit, and Hellmuth won a flush. His opponent used queen-high flush draw and top pair to wager 100,000. Hellmuth used flush to make a 500,000 check-raise and Ausmus made a 1,050,000 re-raise.
Hellmuth shoved, prompting Ausmus to call. The turn revealed 3Club Suit and gave Hellmuth a six-high straight flush that won the title.
