California Online Poker Legislation Falls Short Again

CaliforniaThe state of California has tried repeatedly to get in on the online gambling market in the US, unsuccessfully. The state has seen several bills created but none ever gain traction. Recent reports have now surfaced that suggest 2013 will pass without legislation in the state in regards to online poker. In close to one month the legislative session will end in California so there is very little time to pass any legislation.

However, according to a recent report by Card Player, someone involved California legislation has stated that anything could be possible when it comes to online poker legislation in the state. Both SB51 and SB678 have not moved any and even if they did move before the session ends next month it is very unlikely that a special session would be created before next year to discuss the measures.

According to Card Player’s resource, California has not been able to pass a bill on the subject this eyar because the same arguments are taking place yet again. Tribal groups are not able to come to an agreement as to who should be able to gain a license to operate in the state. There are also those who do not want to see firms located out of state taking the profits that could serve California well. The arguments go round and round with no solution in sight.

Card Player also found that despite the fact the state has yet to pass any legislation, it does seem that more are on board with the state partnering with other states to create a larger player pool. But this means nothing essentially until any legislation is put in place. So now we wait and see what happens over the coming months in legislation in the state of California.
