Harrah’s Casino in Cherokee hosted the World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) main event on February 27. It featured three starting flights with 1,703 entrants and a $2,356,299 prize pool. But, only 171 entrants won at least $3,488.
Brian Altman beat all his opponents to win his fourth WSOP Circuit ring and the $393,753 top prize. He won a World Poker Tour (WPT) Player of the Year award, a World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelet, and three WPT titles.
The Hendon Mob indicates that Altman has increased his poker career earnings to $7,760,182. He collected 1,080 Card Player Player of the Year (POY)points that improved his position in the POY race to the top 40 by having 1,200 points.
Besides, the poker pro has performed well in the POY race of late. He was 11th in 2020 and 12th in 2021.

How Things Unfolded on the Final Day
Many players got busted on the tournament’s first day as only 171 advanced to the second day before further reducing to 15 on the final day. The final table was set about three hours after the day’s action kicked off. Some of the players with deep runs but missed a seat at the final table included Russell Sullivan, Jeremy Eyer, Tommy Vu, Alex Rocha, John Bowman, Thad McNutly, Joshua Dean, Jared Ingles, David Somers, Keven Stammen, Donnie Phan, Carlos Loving, Laura Born, Brett Bader, Jeremy Joseph, and Vincent Moscati.
Altman had the largest stack of 13.2 million chips when five-handed action began, despite not eliminating any of the first four finalists at the table. His first elimination was when he ended Kyle Cartwright’s run in fifth place and his stack increased to 17.7 million chips.
Ronald Sewell busted two players to get a 28,050,000-chip lead before his heads-up match against Altman’s 22,850,000 chips began. Altman got the chip lead after a few minutes.
Sewell used pocket kings to double up and got the stack lead prompting Altman to increase his efforts to collect more chips. The former used KClub Suit8Spade Suit to make an 8 million chip preflop, and the latter used ASpade Suit4Diamond Suit to hold him.
The board ran AHeart Suit7Heart Suit2Club Suit2Diamond SuitQDiamond Suit and sent Sewell packing in the second position with $242,121, the biggest cashout in his professional poker career.
Altman informed WSOP Circuit journalists after the tournament that he likes circuit tournaments and is a regular main event player. Besides, he enjoys competing with different players and observing their strategies.
The Cherokee’s stop thrills him as it is in the Smoky Mountains, and he loves hiking. Hammond, Indiana’s Horseshoe Casino will host the next WSOP Circuit tournament that will end on March 6.
