Those who use or intend to use BC’s officially sanctioned online casino, playnow.com, will be relieved to hear that the BC’s Privacy Commissioner Elizabeth Denham says that she is now satisfied with the security of the playnow.com website. This comes as the BC Lottery Corp has patched a bug which enabled users of the site to actually play casino games with the money of other users.
The playnow.com website (the official online gaming portal of the BC Lottery Corp) was launched this past July, but was quickly closed after security problems caused some users to find themselves logged into the wrong accounts. The issue meant that customer data such as banking data and other personal information could be viewed by those who were inadvertently logged into the wrong customer account.
However after over a month of being closed for business the playnow.com website is now back up and running. Furthermore, since that the BC Lottery Corp has heeded Privacy Commissioner Elizabeth Denham’s suggestions, the site is not only open for business again, but more importantly is now a secure destination for B.C.’s would-be online gamblers. Also, incorrect charges to effected user accounts have been reversed.
