888Poker is finally celebrating its 20 years in the industry. The poker room is doing these with a series of events, including the ongoing Retro Week tournaments.

Retro Week started on March 20 and comprises of 26 tournaments paying homage to 20 years of the oldest online poker room. The poker room has already awarded over $888k. Moreover, the tournaments have attracted more players than expected, increasing various prie pools.

Over a Dozen Retro Week Champions Crowned

Retro Week was not a major poker festival but a celebration of 88Poker’s success in the industry. The matches go for varying buy-ins ranging between $16.50 and $525.

The festival kicked off with the $25,000 Big Fish with a prize pool of $30k. E.D.I.T.H, a Brazilian player, won event #1, taking home $5,300 and the first championship title.

The $90 Sunday Challenge kicked off two hours after the first match. The event’s guaranteed prize pool was $100k, which was exceeded with $11k. liviu_hzn, a Romanian poker player, scooped the win and a gold medal, taking home $16,330.

This was followed by the third event of the first day. penfolds6 was the lucky winner of the $16.50 Catfish, taking $2,100 to his home Thailand.

Then, the day’s last match kicked off with 97 new players and 20 rebuys starting the game. Kiskutya23 won the $525 Whale match, a high-roller event, for over $14,000.

Four other tournaments were scheduled for day 2 of the Retro Week. The first event on the schedule was a $109 Lightning Progressive Knock out 6-max with 229 new players. Kabous69 won $5,743 inclusive of the bounties.

This was followed by two $22 Twins matches that started at 19.00 and 19.30 on Monday, March 21. Each of these events had a pool of $10,000, with andrn winning over $2000 for the first event and VERYPOTATO winning the second with $2,023.

The last event on day 2 was the $55 Breeze Progressive Knock Out which attracted 219 players and 40 rebuys. Vlaad25 won the event carrying over $1000 home.

The Tuesday Challenge Freezeout followed suit with Christy1979 beating the field and walking home with $6,081. This was the only match in the schedule without re-entries. Yet, it saw 242 players buy-in with $109.

Several other events have been played, including the #33 Wednesday Challenge and four other events between Tuesday and Wednesday. $109 Hurricane Progressive Knock Out with a prize pool of $20k also occurred yesterday, March 24, alongside two other events.

The Remaining Events

There are four more days to go before Retro Week is over. Between Friday and Monday, players will enjoy several exciting events.

You can watch out for the $30k challenge going for $109 and another tomorrow for $55. Then, the real excitement will begin on Sunday, being the final day.

The highlight of the day will be a $300k Mega Deep Main Event at 19.00. Players can participate by buying in with $215 or playing any satellite match at 888Poker.

At 20.00, a Mini Mega Deep will kick off with a buy-in of $33. In case you cannot attend any of these two events, you can set the alarm for 21.00 the same day to play $525 Whale.

Then, the Mega Deep’s final table will take place on Monday, marking the end of Retro Week. Meanwhile, you can follow all the action at 888Poker while waiting for the overall champion to be crowned.
