Two Suspects Who Fatally Shot a Man at Hard Rock Casino Lake Tahoe Have Been Charged

A heated argument at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe resulted in one man being fatally shot in his head. The Saturday morning dispute involved three people, and the police later apprehended two suspects who are believed to have killed the man.

Deputies arrived at the shooting scene after a short while and rushed the 32-year-old victim, Omar Reyes Garcia to the hospital. Unfortunately, medics pronounced him dead shortly after arriving.

Edgar Julian Delgado, a 24-year-old man, and Garcia got into a heated dispute at Hard Rock Casino’s Centre Bar. Delgado randomly drew his firearm at 8 a.m. and shot Garcia. The authorities stated that El Dorado Sheriff’s deputies arrested Delgado and another person at gunpoint on a California highway after several hours.

KOLO, a Reno television station reported that the two suspects first assembled at the casino bar for several hours before the dispute arose. Delgado faced first-degree murder charges while his accomplice, 26-year-old Savannah Racquel Tautaupale, faced being an accessory and driving under the influence charges.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office in California booked Racquel and Delgado. Yet, the latter was held without bail last weekend, and the former had $250,000 bail. Deputies arrested them on Highway 50 near Sierra-at-Tahoe in a Toyota Forerunner, and they are likely to extradite them to Nevada from California even though they didn’t injure someone else at the casino.

The Casino’s Temporary Closure

The police temporarily closed Highway 50 and sections of Hard Rock Casino Lake Tahoe while searching for Racquel and Delgado. They thoroughly inspected all the rooms in the casino after the shooting. The Sheriff’s deputies locked down the gaming property after evacuating the hotel’s Tahoe and North towers.

They ordered clients to remain inside. Besides, the Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies temporarily closed Dotty’s Casino because of the fatal shooting.

Delgado rushed to his hotel room to pick up a few personal items after shooting Garcia and later left the casino together with Racquel. Reports show that the casino reported the shooting at 8:08 a.m. at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

KCRA, a California TV station reported that the first deputy arrived at Hard Rock after three minutes. But, more than 50 deputies and police officers went to the casino after a while. Its security guards gave the officers clear descriptions of the two suspects and their vehicle since they lacked a surveillance video.

Hard Rock Casino Lake Tahoe posted on Twitter saying that it re-opened at noon after the early morning shooting incident. Its management thanked all law enforcement agencies, including the Sheriff’s deputies for securing the premises and apprehending the two suspects.

Another Murder Incidence at the Casino
