Delaware North disclosed last week that it had completed its $320 million expansion project of its Southland Casino Hotel, based in West Memphis, Arkansas. It stated that it aims to attract guests from St. Louis, Northern Alabama, Nashville, Little Rock, and Memphis.
The expansion project lasted for three years during which Southland transformed from a dog racing track to a complete Las Vegas-style casino. Lou Jacobs, Per Delaware North CEO, said that Southland’s expansion is part of the Delaware North project’s legacy. Its completion adds Southland as an ideal casino destination on the map thus attracting local and distant visitors.
Delaware North collaborated with Pepsi in a “New Year, New Ride” promotion to celebrate the end of its project. It will offer prizes worth $250,000 including a new Ford F-150 truck which will be the grand prize.

Southland and Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort reaped big from a 2018 constitutional amendment that allowed race tracks to develop and run casinos. It coincided with a decrease in Southland’s greyhound racing industry activity.
