Palazzo and Venetian Las Vegas Allow Table Game Smoking

Las Vegas’ Venetian Resort recently announced that table game smoking will return in its premises. It includes Palazzo and The Venetian casinos. The management added that smokers will resume smoking at its table games on November 6.

The announcement elicited mixed reactions from Palazzo and Venetian dealers as some of them oppose indoor smoking. Nevertheless, The Venetian Resort said in a statement that it will allow table game players to smoke vapes, cigars, and cigarettes. Yet, the gaming property is still prohibiting marijuana smoking.

The Strip bans the use of marijuana in all gaming venues. The Venetian Resort’s statement highlighted that it constantly reviews its internal policies to increase its stronghold in the region’s gaming market and to modify its business strategies. It stated that the resort got feedback from many people concerning its smoking policy hence prompting it to adjust its policy.

The Venetian said that it will continue accommodating table game players who prefer betting at non-smoking tables. It further explained that such a player can approach a floor manager or tables game supervisor to make their request which the gaming official will facilitate.

Vital Vegas was amongst the first local media stations to disclose Venetian Resort’s new table game smoking policy. It only allows smoking on its floor and bans it in the rest of its premises. Moreover, the property prohibits the practice in its pool decks and suites.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix

Vici Properties a successful real investment trust owns The Venetian Resort. But, Caesars Entertainment controls it. Apollo Global Management, a New York private equity firm runs Palazzo and the Venetian resorts.

Apollo and Vici purchased the gaming properties from Las Vegas Sands in 2022 for $6.25 billion. Reports show that Apollo spent $2.25 billion to retain Sands’ workers and to acquire its operating rights while Vici paid $4 billion for the properties.

Palazzo and The Venetian are among the leading casinos in Las Vegas and are preparing for the upcoming Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix. The highly anticipated race will kick off on November 19 featuring a 3.8-mile circuit. Still, it will comprise a 1.18-mile straightway that will allow drivers to exceed 200 mph speed limits.

The race’s popularity in the country has grown rapidly over the years. But, it is more famous in Europe and the Middle East.

Still, smoking in prevalent in these areas compared to the United States. Gaming analysts predict that The Venetian changed its table gaming smoking policy to attract more players during F1.

Are Smoking Bans Efficient?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) discovered several months ago that partial smoking policies in casinos don’t guarantee players safe indoor air. Instead, they need to fully ban the use of tobacco on their premises.

The health agency found high levels of harmful Particulate Matter (PM) in casinos’ smoking-free zones. Its studies revealed that players still get exposed to secondhand smoke even if a gaming venue installs sophisticated air filtration systems.
