The Michigan Gaming Control Board has been behind the launch since the beginning, and it has done a great job of enticing new companies to enter the state. Now that we are in a new year, the Michigan Gaming Control Board has projected that the state will see revenue of over $2 billion in 2024.
It’s still early to call the total revenue for 2023, but it is going to be higher than $1.75 billion. That will set a new record for the market, and set the stage for the state to pass the $2 billion mark during this year.
There are currently 15 online casinos in the state of Michigan, but that number is expected to jump in 2024. Online casino licenses are still available, and companies want to enter this state in order to get a part of that revenue.
New Jersey and Pennsylvania are two of the other major states when it comes to online casino gambling, and they are also seeing impressive jumps in the revenue totals as well. Not only will online casinos see more money, but so will the state of Michigan.
Huge Jump in Tax Revenue
If recent trends hold true, the state of Michigan will bring in over $550 million in tax revenue in the 12 months in 2024. This is another area where the state has seen plenty of growth, and that money is split among a number of different groups or projects.
Back in 2021, the total tax revenue that was brought in was an impressive $279.3 million. That number jumped all the way up to $399.9 million in 2022 as that was the first full year of iGaming in the state.
The tax revenue will go over $475 million in 2023 after all of the money is collected as things just don’t seem to slow down. The School Aid Fund is where a large portion of the money goes, but it’s not the only group that has benefitted from this industry.
Online casino sites continue to outperform sports betting sites in Michigan, and that’s rare when looking at other states.
