Legendary Czech King’s Casino To Remain Closed Until September

King’s Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic, is the largest land-based casino in Europe and home to many important events throughout the year. According to the latest news, the popular venue will open its doors earliest on Sept. 1.

This is a venue that’s located on the border with Germany, and it’s safe to say that it’s located at the very heart of Europe, making it a good spot for many European casinos and poker lovers. That’s one of the reasons why it also became the poker center of Europe.

Unlike many other casinos that focus on offering a great choice of casino games, King’s Casino is mainly focused on poker. The cardroom in this venue is simply stunning, and many players consider it the best poker room in Europe.

Some of the poker festivals that take place there include the World Series of Poker Europe, MILLIONS Main Events, and more.

The Casino Closes Its Doors

The government of the Czech Republic issued restrictions on March 12 to fight the coronavirus pandemic. That’s why many casinos in the country had to close their doors, including King’s Resort, Casino Admiral Rozvadov, and King’s Casino Prague.

Back in March, the doors were closed “until further notice.” However, the further notice seems to say that the earliest we’ll be able to see these venues open their doors would be in September.

Namely, when you head to the official website of the biggest European casino, you’ll see a short but important announcement. No official dates are mentioned there, but what gave away the potential date for reopening is the announcement made by the Czech government.

Czechia was one of the first European countries to issue a nation-wide lockdown as one of the measures to fight the virus. The authorities have been somewhat successful with putting a stop to the virus, with 3,085 confirmed cases and 44 deaths.

The crisis team announced that the travel ban would last for “at least six months,” meaning there’s also a huge possibility for the casinos to remain closed for that long, as poker players and other casino lovers from other countries will not be able to go to the Czech Republic.

Despite the casino being closed, its workers will be paid their wages while in isolation. Leon Tsoukernik, the CEO of the casino and a passionate poker player, announced this and added that all of them would be paid in full.

Many other casino owners pledged to do the same thing, meaning to pay their workers full wages while their casinos are not operating.

There’s also a status update on the official Facebook page of the King’s Casino, where it is claimed that “it can still take a few months” before the casino can open its doors. Therefore, poker lovers, especially the ones who live outside of the Czech Republic, will have to be patient for a little while.
