Police nabbed two men last week after an armed robbery was reported in a casino arcade in Florida. They will question the suspects shortly about other robberies that have taken place in the region’s arcades of late.
The police took the men’s mug shots and charged them with a casino arcade robbery in the state. Jwyanza Chito, a 34-year-old Philadelphia resident, and Lenny Myers, a 45-year-old Cape Coral resident got a holdup charge at the White Sands Arcade. Each of them had a firearm and is facing an armed robbery charge.
Police booked them early Friday morning at the Lee County Jail and took them to a Florida court on Saturday. The suspects were still in custody at the jail on Sunday morning.
The incident is reported to have started on Thursday at 10:52 a.m. after they visited the arcade. Chito brandished a Glock handgun and commanded a White Sands worker to give him money.
They got $2,500 loot and escaped after stuffing it in a pillowcase, according to the police. The duo matched Myers and Chito’s description that a patron gave while at Coral Palace Arcade’s parking lot. The lot is also in Cape Coral and the patron reported the suspicious duo to an arcade worker.
A Cape Coral Police Department statement says that the employee rushed to lock the doors and the suspects left the lot. Brandon Sancho, an officer from the department said the patron’s presence at the parking lot would help them in investigating the case.
The casino arcade has 24/7 video surveillance at the lot and it gave the police footage to review. They used a photo of the suspects’ car and license plate to track them.
They nabbed Chito at a Fort Myers motel and later caught Myers as they found the gun that the duo used during the robbery. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office informed WINK that they will charge Chito for armed robbery in North Fort Myers at the Lucky Turtle Arcade.
WINK stated that an armed suspect threatened an arcade employee with a firearm that they placed on their head before ordering them to open the safe and give them all the money.
More Arcade Thefts
Police are investigating Myers and Chito for other thefts that took place last week at several Lee County arcades. Various law enforcement agencies are sharing the information that they have gathered so far.
Two men robbed The Vegas Experience, a popular gaming facility in Fort Myers, $18,000 on Wednesday night. WBBH reported that the duo played games at the venue for four hours. They sat next to the Monster King of Under Water machine before they opened the venue’s lock box and took all its money, which was coins.
An attempted robbery took place last week at the Arcade Black Horse in Fort Myers, according to WINK. one suspect held a firearm and their colleagues didn’t find the money before they left the gaming facility.
