Caesars Virginia Plans to Launch Its Temporary Casino in Danville in July 2023

Caesars Virginia is currently constructing a commercial casino in Danville, Virginia. It is among the four casinos in the state. Still, Caesars Entertainment is spearheading the growth of gaming in Virginia’s Southside, and it announced last week that it will launch a temporary casino in July 2023 in Schoolfield.

Construction works are ongoing at Caesars Virginia’s Danville site. The gaming operator intends to incorporate the “Three Sisters” smokestacks which towered the defunct textile mill complex for many years into the casino’s design.

Danville is among Virginia’s five cities which got approval to set up a casino in Virginia’s 2020 gaming bill. Its residents approved Caesar’s application to construct a casino resort in the November 2020 gaming ballot.

The gaming company is preparing its site at the former Dan River Mills complex. It is demolishing many manufacturing warehouses and buildings on the 85-acre land. Caesars Virginia will adjust the casino’s final design as the textile complex greatly boosted Danville’s economy for many decades.

Details About the Temporary Casino

Caesars Virginia is following Hard Rock Bristol’s move to set up a temporary casino since constructing a full-scale resort requires a lot of money.

Virginia’s 2020 gaming bill permits the Virginia Lottery Board to issue gaming casino operators licenses to launch temporary casinos while constructing them. But the law requires the provisional space to be in the same location that the operator will build a permanent casino.

Hard Rock Bristol made history when it launched the state’s first casino in July 2022. Caesars will spend $650 million on the Caesars Virginia project. It will feature a Caesars bookmaker, a World Series of Poker (WSOP) room, 24 electronic table games, 85 table games, and 1,300 slot machines.

The casino will also have a 300-room hotel, 40,000 square feet of space for meetings, and a 2,500-seat theater. Its construction will continue throughout next year, and Caesars intends to open it in 2024.

Caesars Virginia wants to open a temporary casino in a few months.

Interim gaming spaces give casinos the green light to register players on various rewards programs to develop their clientele. Temporary casinos will pay taxes consistently and create many jobs for local communities.

Regional Hotels Will Benefit

Caesars’ temporary casinos will attract thousands of players from northern North Carolina and southern Virginia. Danville is almost 60 miles north of Raleigh and 50 miles north of Durham. Also, it is 50 miles from Winston-Salem and 40 miles from Greensboro.

Caesars hotel in Danville won’t launch before next summer. Thus, regional hotels will benefit from its temporary casino’s large clientele as it runs many slot machines.

Ken Larking, Danville City Manager, informed WDBJ last week that they hope local hotels will handle the influx of clients. He is glad that the region has several hotels that will open soon, or were launched recently.

Besides, some of them are under construction now. Caesars Danville will transform the temporary gaming sector once it launches.
