Danville Residents Anticipate Caesars Entertainment Casino’s Launch on Monday

Caesars Entertainment is set to launch a new casino in Danville, on May 15, north of the Virginia-Tennessee border. The gaming property has 40,000 square feet of space, and it is in a big pavilion tent. Caesars will run it as it continues constructing a permanent casino resort called Caesars Virginia.

The casino operator plans to invest $650 million in the permanent casino to make southern Virginia a leading gaming destination in the region. The Danville Casino precedes the permanent Caesars Virginia. It has 25 table games, 28 electronic table games, and 740 slot machines.

Yet, the Danville gaming site will run until next year, when the company will complete its permanent casino. It is referring to the property as a temporary gaming space, and it hopes to attract many local players. Moreover, other businesses are anticipating an increase in the number of visitors in the area.

Steve Delgiorno, a local restaurant operator, stated that the casino operator advised him to prepare before it launches the Danville Casino. The investor is uncertain of what to expect but has increased his workforce.

He runs Crema & Vine, a coffee shop in the southern Virginia city. Delgiorno informed CBS7 that he hopes more entrepreneurs will visit and invest in Danville. Also, players will get an opportunity to explore the downtown.

How Will the Casino’s Launch Affect Schoolfield School?

Caesars Entertainment is a renowned casino operator globally. Danville residents allowed it to venture into the local gaming market and have been waiting for it to launch its operations.

The city held a referendum in 2020 letting voters decide whether to permit Caesars to construct a $650 million commercial resort and casino on the former Dan River textile mill site. Almost 69 percent of the voters supported Caesars’ venture.

Schoolfield Elementary School is along W.Main Street and less than a mile from the Danville Casino. Its officials state that the institution has 150 car drop-offs daily. It encouraged parents to drop students at River Oak since the area might experience traffic congestion on Monday.

Then, the school bus will take the children to its compound. Reports state that Schoolfield Elementary workers and Danville Police will be at the church.

LaTonya Simmons, the school’s Principal stated that they will make transport decisions based on the amount of traffic that the casino will create. Even so, Danville Public Schools will address the logistical problems, and it welcomed the new gaming venue.

Dr. Wayne Lyle, Danville Public Schools CEO, stated that it will be a historical moment for the city. He added that the school division is proactive and it created a transportation plan in advance.

What Other Features Does the Danville Casino Entail?

Caesars is keeping the Dan River Mills’ Three Sisters that have lasted for over two decades. Its property will have a 500-room hotel whose casino floor will have a World Series of Poker (WSOP) Room, 24 electronic tables, 85 live dealer table games, and over 1,300 slot machines.
