Police officers apprehended a man on Friday afternoon at Mystic Lake Casino and Hotel in Minnesota after aiming a gun at a security guard. The casino warned other visitors through an emergency alert.
Local police responded fast and caught a 39-year-old man shortly at a parking lot. KSTP, a local television station, reported that the man had a loaded handgun. WCCO, a Minneapolis TV station added that no one got injured.
The man was taken to Scott County Jail and prosecutors are weighing various charges. The casino is in Prior Lake, about 26 miles southwest of Minneapolis. The Shakopee Mdewakanton Community operates and runs the property.
A Syracuse University Law Professor Is Nubbed for Assault in a Casino
Terry Turnipseed, the professor, got arrested after assaulting a woman at Turning Stone Resort Casino. WKTV, a New York State television station, reported several days ago that Turnipseed faces breathing obstruction, assault, and menacing charges. The fracas occurred at TS Steakhouse’s elevator and extended to the parking garage.
The law professor grabbed a woman by the throat before pulling her by her hair from her car. The police found hair in the pan’s pocket while the woman’s legs bled. Even so, the victim freed herself from the man and informed the officers that she didn’t intend to press charges.
The Oneida Indian Nation owns and operates Mystic Lake Casino and Hotel and it is east of Syracuse. WKTV reported that Turnipseed is on leave from teaching at the Syracuse University College of Law.

A Former Michigan Police Chief Faces Gambling Charges
A Flint, Michigan, ex-police chief who led the West Point Arcade made a no-contest plea to carelessly using a firearm and engaging in illegal gambling in February. Michigan’s Genesee County Circuit Court will sentence William Barksdale on April 14 and might imprison him for several years.
WNEM, a Michigan television station, reported that Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) inspectors witnessed illegal gambling taking place in 2017 at West Point Arcade. Some people played casino-style games on computers and others received generic gift cards.
The arcade lacked a gaming license despite holding gambling activities. Dana Nessel, Michigan’s Attorney General, stated that the MGCB inspectors discovered over 80 firearms in a court-approved search in the arcade. She added that eight of them were sawed-off shotguns.
Adam Crossnoe, Alvin Crossnoe, and Barksdale gambled in the West Point Arcade. The two brothers pleaded guilty to illegal gambling charges in October 2021.
Yet, Barksdale faced short-barreled shotgun possession, cybercrime, and betting activities-felony charges. He was guilty of each charge and Nessel states that the ex-police chief might spend 25 years in prison.
WJRT, another local TV station reported that Barksdale fatally shot a masked intruder in 2009 at the casino after leaving his job in 2004. Nessel stated that his office upholds gaming regulations and often partners with the MGCB.
