Full Tilt Poker Heads-Up PLO Championship; Antonius Falls to Slaktarn

September 8, 2008

A field of 64 players, the maximum allowed, handed over $25,000 a piece to converge on Full Tilt Poker’s Heads-Up Pot Limit Omaha Championship tables Saturday, battling it out for their share of the tremendous $1.6 million prize pool. The two-day event came to a close Sunday as Patrik Antonius and “slaktarn” went one-on –one for the ultimate victory.

The final hand was a heart-stopper. With a lot of ground to make up from his opponent – slaktarn had a 9,705 to 2,295 chip lead – Antonius tossed in a 150 Raise from the Small Blind. Slaktarn’s call produced a Flop of J-6-7 with no matching suits. Slaktarn pulled off a perfect check-raise that brought Antonius all-in, instantly called by slaktarn.

Antonius revealed A-A-10-9, an inside straight draw, to slaktarn’s J-J-8-Q, top-set. Antonius would need an Ace, 8 or running hearts to take the lead. The Turn fell, 9 of spades, offering no help to Antonius but an opened end straight draw to better slaktarn’s already high-percentage lead.

When the 5 of spades fell on the River, it was all over for Patrik Antonius. Slaktarn made the straight, ousting Antonius and earning the 1st place prize of $560,000, along with the prestigious title of Full Tlt Poker’s $25k Heads-Up PLO Champion. Antonius pocketed a hefty $320k for the 2nd place win.

In the semi-final round, $168k was awarded to Di “Urindanger” Dang, routed by Antonius, and again to “Ugadabugada”, eliminated by slaktarn.

Other red-tagged members of Full Tilt Poker who finished in prominent positions include David Benefield and Erich Kollmann, each pocketing $96,000 for 6th and 8th place finishes respectively.

We at 4flush.com offer our sincere congratulations to slaktarn for her immaculate display of skills at Full Tilt Poker. Now the Heads-Up PLO Champion, slaktarn adds this sizable victory to her recent high stakes cash table routings at Full Tilt Poker that since late June, 2008, add up to a heavenly total of more than $1.63 million.
