Poker After Dark Features Six Great Poker Pros

November 9, 2007

Poker After Dark Arguably six of the best poker players in the world will put up $20,000 each and battle each other on November 12th on NBC’s Poker After Dark. Chris Ferguson, Phil Hellmuth, Jennifer Harman, Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen, and Howard Lederer will each sit side by side for the $120,000 winner take all poker game.

For one poker pro though there is even more incentive. Gus Hansen gave Phil Hellmuth 4.5:1 that Hellmuth would not win. Hellmuth took the bet claiming in his blog,

"Gus Hansen lost his mind and offered me 4 1/2-to-1 to win my six player heat. I don't care who is in the heat, I'm never even a four-to-one dog in a six handed no limit Hold'em heat, ever! In London last month, I won four out of six. So I bet $20,000 on myself, and I called Johnny Chan and Doyle Brunson, trying to make them some money. They both bet $10,000 on me to win with Gus, and the match was on."

There are more than just the side bets for Hellmuth in this Poker After Dark game. He is the only player at the table this time with out a victory on the popular TV show.

Lederer has two victories to lead the way and all the others have one victory a piece except Phil Hellmuth. Should he not win, not only does he have to pay up Gus Hansen but will also have the distinction of being the first player 0-6 after two seasons of Poker After Dark.

The show will air for 5 consecutive nights starting November 12th at 2:05 am. Get up close and personal with player interviews, special highlights and a behind the scenes look on Saturday November 17th at 1:00 am in a special Director’s Cut airing.

This show will feature players with a combined 25 WSOP bracelet wins, 3 WPT Championships and career earnings of over $32 million. Of course it also will feature Phil Hellmuth, acting like you have always seen him and maybe like you never thought he could.
