WSOP ‘Millionaire Maker’ Event Sets Record Numbers

The 2013 World Series of Poker is in full swing and players have arrived in Las Vegas from all across the globe to compete in various events. One event in particular, the ‘Millionaire Maker,’ is a new event on the docket and was expected to see a great turn out. The Millionaire Maker aka Event #6, started on June 1st and originally had a one day start but with so many players registered, the event produced record numbers.

The event had a buy-in of $1,500 and was a no-limit hold’em tournament. The event had a record number of players, 6,344, which set a record for the WSOP. The event was so large in fact; it broke the previous record of a one day starting field by over 300 players.

The event will now continue and will finish up on June 4th, 2013. After the event is concluded, the winner will earn a gold WSOP bracelet during the winner ceremony.  During the Millionaire Maker event, players are allowed to re-enter into the event only one time during the beginning stages of the tournament. The event was expected to have over 3,000 and as many as 6,000 so the turnout was much more than expected.

The event continues and as of today just over 100 remained before the field is cut down once again. Players are vying for the top spot at the tournament which was a guaranteed $1 million and now has been upped to $1.19 million+.
