Anthony Gregg Wins 2013 WSOP $111K One Drop Tournament

In one of the most exciting final tables of the 2013 World Series of Poker, it was Anthony Gregg who took down one of the most prestigious events of the summer – quite possibly the whole year on top of that.  The tournament literally concluded just minutes ago and was live-streamed online at WSOP.com.

The tv final table included some very familiar faces, including last year’s $1 million buy-in One Drop winner Antonio Esfandiari and east coast poker professional Nick Schulman.  Antonio had begun to make a serious run at another One Drop title until he got short-stacked 4-handed and ended up exiting in 4th place.  William Perkins, who held the chip lead for most of the beginning of the final table, would end up going out in third – setting up a heads up battle between Anthony Gregg and Chris Klodnicki.

The heads up action was somewhat short-lived though once it got to that point. Anthony Gregg, a very well-known intelligent and aggressive tournament pro from Maryland, bullied his opponent Chris Klodnicki for dozens of hands during heads up play.  The fact he held a 5 to 1 chip lead most of the time also helped his cause en route to the victory.

On the final hand, Gregg and Klodnicki got it all-in on a board of 9h 3c 4d 5h 3s.  Anthony Gregg held 9d 2h for two pair 9’s and 3’s, with Klodnicki tabling 7s 5d for a lower two pair.  And just like that, it was over (kind of anti-climactic with the hands that got flipped up, right?)!

Anthony Gregg, who also happens to be a very close friend of 2012 Main Event winner Greg Merson, would take in a solid payday of $4.8 million for his bracelet victory, while 2nd place finisher Chris Klodnicki took home $2.9 million.

Here are the final results of the WSOP $111k One Drop Tournament final table:
