World Series Game 6 Betting Pick: Washington Nationals at Houston Astros

Oh, how the tides have turned, and everything has changed in the World Series between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which will play Game 6 on Tuesday night. After taking the first two games of the series by beating the top two pitchers in baseball on the road, the Nationals floundered at home. They scored just one run in each of the three games and could not hold the Astros offense in check. This is a team that scored 13 runs in Game 2 and then had its offense shut down by a combination of elite Astros pitching and umpires not wanting to provide quite enough calls. The series is not over yet, but the Nationals have to win Game 6 to extend it.

Houston has a chance to close the door on Washington. The Astros won it all in 2017 by knocking off the Dodgers in seven games, and now they have a chance at home to end this series in six. After dropping the first two games, Houston kicked it into high gear on the road and is looking to potentially turn this into a dynasty-like run. Why exactly did Houston get to be the NL team to make the leagues even and slide to the AL? We don’t know. But, the decision is paying dividends.

The Nationals are set as +155 underdogs, while the Astros are -185 favorites. The over/under is set at 7.5 runs.

Can The Nats Dig Deep?

After three devastating losses in a row, the Nationals are back on the road, where they have won six in a row after they took two in Los Angeles, two in St. Louis, and two in Houston. The only road loss for them this postseason was Game 1 of the National League Division Series at Dodger Stadium. The offense is going to have to get going early, as Houston put runs on the board its first time through the order in all three games played at Nationals Park. Juan Soto has continued to perform, but nobody else got the memo. And while they certainly miss Kurt Suzuki right now, there are no excuses. Yan Gomes has to step up.

Stephen Strasburg gets the nod for Game 6 for the Nationals. He went six innings in Game 2, striking out seven over six solid innings while surrendering two runs. All four of his playoff starts this year have gone at least six innings.

Houston Looking To Finish The Deal

Houston is one win away from a second title in three years, as life is good for Astros fans. The 1-2 punch of George Springer and Jose Altuve has been at the center of the Astros’ success, while Yuli Gurriel and Carlos Correa have also been swinging hot bats. The bullpen has been tremendous of late, while Gerrit Cole turned in a Game 5 gem. They now turn to Justin Verlander, who has never won a start in the World Series.

Verlander allowed four runs on seven hits over six innings in Game 2. He has allowed four runs in three of his four postseason starts, with only one appearance allowing less than two runs. He is the only pitcher to begin his World Series career with an 0-5 record.

Time To Celebrate

The Astros will claim victory in Game 6 and be crowned 2019 champs as the home team improves to 1-5 in the series.
