It’s time for Week 8 in College Football. Let’s take a look at some of the best games on the slate for the week.
Penn State Nittany Lions +3.5 at Ohio State Buckeyes
The Big Ten East has a round-robin between the top three teams, and we are getting the first round of it here. Penn State travels to Ohio State, Michigan comes to Penn State, and the Wolverines will host Ohio State later in the season.
Drew Allar and the Nittany Lions have been a bit overlooked, but they have played tremendous football. If the Nittany Lions can avoid the big play, they are going to have a good chance to win this game.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have already been battle-tested with a win over Notre Dame, so not much will phase them here. Ryan Day needs to dial up plays to his playmakers, and this game will belong to the Buckeyes.
Tennessee Volunteers +8 at Alabama Crimson Tide
This is a different-looking Tennessee team than in the past. This is a good defensive team that looks to move the ball and the clock. The Volunteers have one loss on the season, and that to Florida. For Alabama, Nick Saban’s squad is getting torn down for not looking at dominate as in the previous season.
In the end, though, the Crimson Tide win games. It will be interesting to see what kind of game Jalen Milroe brings in this game, but with the game in Tuscaloosa, it’s hard to imagine Tennessee goes in and wins this one.
Duke Blue Devils +14 at Florida State Seminoles
The Duke Blue Devils get the next chance of knocking the Florida State Seminoles from the ranks of the unbeaten. Jordan Travis, Keon Coleman, and company have been tremendous, starting with their Week 1 win over LSU. The Seminoles appear to be back. They are also solid on the defensive side as well.
For Duke, it looks like it could be the second game in a row without their starting quarterback, Riley Leonard. The Blue Devils will need to use their ground game and a ton of their defense in this one. Expect a good game in Tallahassee, with the Seminoles likely being a little too late.
Utah Utes +7 at USC Trojans
The Utah Utes are one of the best defensive teams in the Pac-12 but will face quite a test when they go to Southern California on Saturday. Kyle Whittingham is also one of the best coaches in the nation, so his plan to get ready for Caleb Williams and the Trojans offense will be in place. USC is coming off a terrible blowout loss at Notre Dame.
It was the first loss of the season. While the loss did not hurt them in the Pac-12 standings, their standing in the College Football Playoff took a massive hit. They have to bounce back, as they have a brutal end to their schedule.
Look for the Trojans to get back on track here despite playing an elite defense.
