Washington Wizards at New York Knicks Betting Preview

Washington will be missing the playoff this year after an early exit a season ago. There is a very good chance that these next two games could be Scott Brooks’ final ones’ coaching in DC. GM Ernie Grunfeld got canned last week, and with the results they have had, a firing would not be a surprise.

New York, on the other hand, is just trying to finish the dumpster fire that is their season. There have been very few bright spots this season, as they have clinched the worst record in the league. With what seems like an endless amount of money to spend this offseason, and a chance at the #1 pick, they could be in for a quick turnaround.

Wizards:

We have reached the point in the season where a lot of the younger players are starting to garner more playing time. There is no reason to not allow guys who had less opportunity to get out there a lot more. Troy Brown has been heavily featured as a starter, while Jordan McRae is finally looking at consistent minutes. Thomas Bryant has more than proved his worth and ability to be a consistent NBA big man. We’re even getting a glimpse at Devin Robinson, who had four points and five rebounds in 14 minutes against the Spurs.

It’s hard to say exactly what the offseason will bring, or what they should do. Jeff Green, Bobby Portis, Bryant, Satoransky, Ariza, and likely Jabari Parker are all going to be free agents. They have almost $70 million tied up to their starting back-court, so they are going to have to spend wisely to try and put together a playoff team next season. There should be no excuses for a Beal-led team to take them to the postseason. Also, Dwight is likely gone.

Knicks:

If you have no idea what is going on with this team right now, join the club. Billy Garrett Jr. signed with the team Friday afternoon and proceeded to log 25 minutes in a game later that day. Mario Hezonja drew the start at point guard in that game, and he had the most impressive stat-line of his NBA life. 16 points, 16 rebounds, 11 assists in 42 minutes. They are so depleted that it is hard to exactly say what we should be watching for. Besides Mitchell Robinson of course.

They will be thinking about cost-cutting this summer to maximize the amount of money they could potentially pay their prized offseason signees. Hezonja, Mudiay, DeAndre Jordan, and Noah Vonleh are the main players they need to think about bringing back. Mudiay is the most likely candidate if they only retained one player.

Wizards get the W, leave NY smiling

In a game that not many around the league will be paying attention to, the Wizards will dominate New York. It’s been a long year with very little to smile about, but they can smile today. A win!
