Washington will trek over to Dallas as the Cowboys host their annual late-afternoon Thanksgiving Day game. Usually, when two teams with three wins meet in Week 12, it’s a meaningless game. In this case, it will actually be a battle to see who can get a leg up in the race to the top of the NFC East.
All four teams in the division have played horrible football in 2020, but they are all in the race. Washington has used three starting quarterbacks and currently have Alex Smith under center. After all of his leg issues following the gruesome injury, he’s probably the easiest guy to root for in the league.
On the other side, Dallas has gone through four quarterbacks. Dak’s early-season injury opened the door for Andy Dalton. After Dalton suffered a concussion, in came Ben DiNucci. Garrett Gilbert was the final guy to get a crack, but with Dalton back now, the team is as healthy at the quarterback position as they could hope to be.
Despite the ugly records of both teams, this promises to be a competitive game. The Cowboys are three-point favorites, and the over/under is set at 46.5.
Washington Seeking First 2020 Win Streak
Coming off a 20-9 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, the Washington Football Team improved to 3-7. Washington benefitted from an early-game injury suffered by Joe Burrow, who was diagnosed with a torn ACL, MCL, and PCL.
The team’s running game was fantastic. J.D. McKissic was able to add 40 yards on the ground. Antonio Gibson had another strong performance. Plus, we saw some timely carries from Peyton Barber, who delivered some positives.
Washington’s defense is allowing the fewest passing yards per game in the league at 195.4. They’ve been a surprisingly capable unit this year, with another chance to shine Thursday.
Washington knocked Dallas off 25-3 when they last met four weeks ago. The Football Team has not won back-to-back games in 2020.
Dallas Looking For 4-7
A win in this one would allow the Cowboys their revenge on Washington and give them a second win in a row. They were able to rally past a Vikings team that entered on a three-game winning streak. The offense put timely drives together throughout the second half en route to an impressive win.
During the victory, we saw CeeDee Lamb become the all-time Cowboys leader in receptions by a rookie. He’s up to 47 on the year, with six games still to be played. Lamb should continue to stand out as one of the leaders from the incredible 2020 wide receiver draft class.
The defensive line of the Cowboys should have no problems getting to Smith. The questions will be about their secondary. Dallas allows the most points per game (31.8) in the NFL and has the league’s second-worst turnover margin (-12). Will it be good enough to get them this critical win?
Cowboys Fall Just Short
Like last time, Washington will beat Dallas. The game will come down to the wire, but Washington’s offense is good enough to put up points on the Cowboys’ shaky defense.
