Utah Jazz at Houston Rockets Betting Preview

Utah Jazz at Houston Rockets Betting Preview

The Jazz will head to Houston to face off with the young Rockets on Thursday night. A team that had four first-round picks, two of them are off to promising starts. As for Utah, they have been playing without Rudy Gay but look to be just fine. His debut will pay off greatly for them when he does finally suit up, though.

As for the Jazz, they have unsurprisingly started the year with a 3-0 mark. The conference so far, though only one week into the season, appears to be wide open. The regular season this team had last year would have made you think they were going to win it all. They did not win as many games in the playoffs, of course, but Utah is certainly more than capable with this personnel group.

Houston is 1-3 to start the season, coming off a victory in their last game. With the youth they have here, they are going to build something special. This is a team that will need to eventually make trades to get more minutes for other players, but it is going according to plan so far. Hitting on two first-rounders, you love to see it.

Houston needs a lot to go right to win this game, but with how Cleveland has begun the season, truly anything is possible.

Betting Odds & Lines

The spread for the game is now set at UTAH -9. The over/under is 222.5 points. The UTAH moneyline is -392, while the HOU moneyline is +326.

Jazz Seek 4-0 Start

A season ago, the Jazz dropped their first two games of the season. They would go a month without taking a single defeat from there and looked unstoppable right from the beginning. At 3-0 right now, they are looking pretty solid, Rudy Gobert rebounding the ball at a historic rate.

There are plenty of negative things to say about Hassan Whiteside, but he is off to a good start in 2021-22. He has been serviceable as Rudy’s backup, allowing them to have a shot-blocker on the floor for all 48 minutes. A massive upgrade over what they had in Derrick Favors.

With Donovan Mitchell and plenty of scorers here, this is not a team people want to see.

Houston Seeking Momentum Victory

There is little-to-no chance that the Rockets can make the playoffs. But coming close would inspire a lot of confidence heading into the future. The days ahead for Houston will be glorious, but they will need to struggle through some defeats before they can consistently become a winner.

Between Kevin Porter Jr., Christian Wood, Jalen Green, Jae’Sean State, and Alperen Sengun, they do not lack young talent. There is so much of it, and that is not even the whole picture. Kenyon Martin Jr., Usman Garuba, and Josh Christopher will eventually get some minutes.

Stephen Silas’ father Paul had a long coaching career in the NBA. Stephen will be in H-Town for a long time running things.

Jazz Win

Utah will get it done against the Rockets, with Gobert leading the way.
