Texas Tech Red Raiders at Ole Miss Rebels Betting Preview

We have another great bowl game on our hands as Texas Tech Red Raiders take on the Ole Miss Rebels. This bowl game will be played at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, at 9:00 pm ET.

I have not heard much about the Red Raiders this year, but they will give the Rebels a run for their money. The Red Raiders are coming into the Texas Bowl with a record of 7-5. They have had a circus of a year at the quarterback position by starting three different players.

Ole Miss could have been one of the top four schools in this year’s playoffs but could not get it together in the middle of the season to continue their ride. Ole Miss is a team that loves to run the ball, and after these past few games, they might need to change some of their tactics.

The Rebels are going into this game with a record of 8-4 and losing their last three games. Ole Miss is listed at -3.5 over Texas Tech.

Texas Tech Red Raiders

The Red Raiders love to throw the ball around the field, and that is what they have been known for this season. In Joey McGuire’s first season as Red Raiders coach, a victory over Oklahoma in the season finale propelled them into a bowl spot.

With backup quarterback Donovan Smith now in the transfer portal, quarterback Tyler Shough has reclaimed the starting position after missing time early in the season due to a collarbone injury. Shough will be crucial for the Red Raiders in this bowl game after only being able to throw 82 completed passes for 1,062 yards.

The Red Raiders can throw on any defense they play regardless of quarterback, ranking 12th nationwide in passing offense. If Shough can throw through the secondary of the Rebels, this could be a tight game.

Ole Miss Rebels

Everyone thought that Ole Miss could have been a National Championship contender. In the last five games of the season, the Rebels had one win against the Aggies on October 29th. There have been three main guys that have led the Rebels this season, and those would be running backs Quinshon Johnson, Zach Evans, and Jaxson Dart.

Johnson, a freshman running back for Ole Miss, leads the country in rushing offense with 261.6 yards per game and 16 touchdowns. Evans, who is a junior running back, added over 900 yards and eight touchdowns. In addition to his 2,613 yards and 18 touchdowns through the air, quarterback Jaxson Dart also poses a threat on the ground, gaining 548 rushing this year.

Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. Ole Miss Rebels Pick and Prediction

A great game in the making and could be one of those games that the Rebels come back from. The Rebels need this win to figure out their identity next year and the years after. Lane Kiffin is one of the best coaches in the NCAA, and I do not see them losing this game against the Red Raiders.

The only solution for the Red Raiders would be to throw down field and try to have their receivers make plays for them. This will not be a close game if Johnson and Dart show what they are made of.

Ole Miss -3.5 is the pick to play.
