Sunday Night Baseball from Los Angeles: Dodgers at Angels

The two Los Angeles teams will be wrapping up their three-game series on Sunday night. The Dodgers and Angels have ignited a mini-rivalry in recent years, and the fans in Los Angeles have had to choose sides. The Dodgers will be going for the series sweep over the Angels after winning the first two games of the series.

There is plenty of star power in this series, but the Dodgers are clearly the better team at the moment. The Angels have arguably the best player in baseball in Mike Trout, who is well on his way to a Hall of Fame career. The Dodgers have Clayton Kershaw in their rotation, who has been one of the top pitchers in baseball this past decade. The Dodgers are -130 over the Angels on Sunday night.

Trout Posting “Video Game” Numbers

Angels superstar, Mike Trout, is having another monster season at the plate. Trout is a generational talent who continues to show that he is arguably the best player in baseball history. Trout sports a .453 on-base percentage to go along with his 25 home runs and 51 runs batted in. Trout currently has a 6.0 WAR, which leads all of baseball, and is right on pace with the best single season WAR in baseball history.

Andrelton Simmons and Justin Upton have tried to support Trout, but it hasn’t been enough this season. Simmons leads the Angels in batting average, hitting .314 so far in 2018. Justin Upton is having a solid bounce-back season, and has belted 17 home runs to go along with his 45 runs batted in. The Angels need a second half from their entire lineup if they are going to get back into the playoff mix.

Muncy, Kemp Leading Dodgers

The Dodgers have got back into the playoff race, thanks in large part to Max Muncy and Matt Kemp. Max Muncy has provided the power at the top of the Dodgers lineup, while Kemp has been a hitting machine all season. Kemp is having a great bounce-back season, and his .321 batting average ranks near the top of the National League.

The Dodgers bullpen has been another major strength for them in 2018. Closer, Kenley Jansen has been dominant in the 9th inning for the Dodgers, but he has had plenty of help. Veteran Ross Stripling is 6-2 out of the bullpen this year and has a sparkling 2.27 earned run average. Pitching has always been a strength of the Dodgers, and they hope that it leads them to another division title.

Dodgers Sweep Angels

The Los Angeles Angels are wasting away another season that they have the superstar, Mike Trout. The Angels find themselves in fourth place in the American League West and don’t appear to have a shot at the playoffs this season. The Angels need to find a way to score runs on Sunday night if they are going to salvage a win in the series finale.

The Dodgers are starting to make their run, and are now right back in the mix in the National League. Alex Wood will make the start for the Dodgers on Sunday night and will try to complete the sweep of the Angels. Look for the high powered Dodgers offense to stay hot, and provide a ton of run support in the series finale. Bet the Los Angeles Dodgers -130 over the Angels on Sunday night.
