Seattle Mariners vs Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Preview

The Los Angeles Dodgers can only hope that Tuesday’s win over the Seattle Mariners helps to break them out of their recent funk. On Wednesday, the Dodgers will try to sweep the two-game set as heavy -260 favorites. Meanwhile, Seattle’s moneyline is listed at +210, with the over/under for the game set at eight runs.

Since the calendar flipped to May, the Dodgers are just 3-6, dropping them to third place in the NL West. In fact, they needed to win on Tuesday just to maintain a winning record. However, Tuesday’s game began a 9-game homestand that has a chance to help Los Angeles get back on track.

As for the Mariners, Tuesday’s loss was their third in a row, putting them at .500 on the season. However, that record is better than most projected for Seattle at the start of the season. At the moment, the Mariners are just 3.5 games off the pace in the AL West, although they can’t afford to keep sliding.

Get It Done

The Mariners will send Justin Dunn to the mound against the Dodgers on Wednesday. The 25-year-old has been surprisingly consistent this season, showing signs of becoming a frontline starter. Despite failing to complete six full innings in any of his starts, Dunn has also allowed three runs or less in all five of his starts this year, posting a 3.51 ERA.

Of course, Dunn will be facing a Los Angeles lineup that could be getting its groove back after scoring 14 runs on Saturday and six runs in Tuesday’s win. Chris Taylor and Gavin Lux were the offensive stars on Tuesday, giving the Dodgers much-needed production from the bottom half of the lineup. Meanwhile, Corey Seager and Max Muncy are both showing signs of heating up, with Muncy hitting three home runs in his last six games.

The Four Aces of Chavez Ravine

The Dodgers have four legitimate aces in their starting rotation, and on Tuesday, it’s time for Julio Urias to get the ball. The 24-year-old is 4-1 with a 3.59 ERA over his first seven starts of the season. However, the southpaw is also coming off his worst start of the year, giving up five runs on eight hits over five innings in a loss to the Angels.

The Mariners will try to strike while Urias appears vulnerable, with the Seattle lineup averaging five runs per game over the last four games. Power has been Seattle’s biggest asset this season, with Mitch Haniger and Kyle Seager combining for 17 home runs in 36 games. Kyle Lewis and J.P. Crawford are also starting to heat up in recent days, although the back half of Seattle’s lineup remains a major concern.

High-Value Pick

The Dodgers deserve to be favored in this game, but that doesn’t make them a smart pick in this game. Los Angeles is still just 3-6 in May, Urias struggled in his last start, and the Dodgers are facing one of Seattle’s best pitchers. Those are all legitimate concerns for the Dodgers, who offer little upside with a moneyline of -260. Bet on the Mariners +210 because there is great value in taking the underdog in this game.
