Houston Rockets at Los Angeles Lakers Betting Preview

lakers rockets

Remember when the Rockets were 11-10? They are 5-43 since that point, and a 44th loss might await them as they head to LA to see the Lakers. It has been a trying season, and John Wall was shut down a few weeks ago. They have already clinched the worst record in the league for the year. The Lakers beat the Knicks in OT on Tuesday night.

Houston has plenty of guys worth tuning in to watch, but there is a good chance most NBA fans have no idea who the players getting minutes are at this point. Eric Gordon and David Nwaba never came back from injuries suffered multiple months ago. Wall hasn’t played in a few weeks, and Kelly Olynyk has actually been the team’s best player. Keep your eyes peeled on Armani Brooks, DaQuan Jeffries, and Khyri Thomas.

LA was able to hold off the Knicks in overtime on Tuesday, thanks to Talen Horton-Tucker and his clutch plays. The team did it without LeBron James, Dennis Schroder, and only seven minutes of Alex Caruso. THT played the role of point guard, and Montrezl Harrell did not get a single second-half minute. It was another key win for a team hoping to avoid the play-in. And now, LeBron returns.

ODDS

The spread for Wednesday night is set at LAL -14. The over/under is 224 points.

Rockets Looking to Pull Key Upset

A win for Houston would do nothing to mess up their lottery odds. They are in a unique position with three games left where the results they come up with have no side effects. They may as well try and come away with a win. Kenyon Martin Jr. has been dunking on everybody of late and made this a fun group to see.

Kelly Olynyk might be the Rockets’ best healthy player, which is a statement that would have been laughable at the time he was acquired in the Oladipo deal. They have had some good moments, even in this horrid season. Kevin Porter Jr. has been out with several injuries, but he may have a role as a starter heading into next season.

Good luck to Houston in stopping Anthony Davis.

Lakers Seeking Win No. 40

A 40-30 record would be pretty much a miracle for the Lakers if they can get this win and swing that. AD missed multiple months, and LeBron has barely played in the last 7-8 weeks. So to be where they now are is huge. It was also nice to see Andre Drummond finally be productive in the team’s last game.

Dre finished with 16 points and 18 rebounds. He had a 0-rebound game not long ago and was certainly hurting them. He may have helped some of his patient fantasy owners move into the lead in their fantasy championship matchup.

The return of LeBron will be nice, as he comes back to give the team more firepower. What he’s got in the tank will be clear as he battles a team lacking in quality perimeter defenders.

Lakers Win Big

Sorry Rockets, but it won’t be your day—blowout ensuing.
