San Jose Sharks vs. Los Angeles Kings Betting Preview

The San Jose Sharks take on the Los Angeles Kings in what’s expected to be a lopsided Western Conference affair. San Jose is widely regarded as one of the worst teams in hockey, and it would make sense if Los Angeles finds a way to come away with the win.

The Kings come into this one with a 24-14-7 record, good for 54 points. Their 54 points are the third most in the West. San Jose, on the other hand, sits at 13-21-8 and only has 34 points. Their 34 points are the fourth worst in the Western Conference.
As expected, the Kings come in as a huge favorite on the moneyline at -220.

Los Angeles Should Easily Win Here

When looking at what Los Angeles has done this season, it’s tough to argue with people that believe this team has a chance to win a Stanley Cup. They’ve been playing incredible hockey all season and have truly impressed in their last 10 with a 7-2-1 record.

Pheonix Copley should be in the back of the net for Los Angeles, and that’s great news for them. The goalie has given up just 2.56 goals per game with an 11-2 record and a save percentage over 90%.

Kevin Fiala is the guy for Los Angeles, as he has the 20th most points in hockey this season. Fiala enters this one with an impressive 46 points in 44 games. He has to continue impressing if Los Angeles wants to have the season they’re looking for.

San Jose Looking for Upset, But Unlikely

San Jose has been a below-average team all season long, and most of that is due to the fact that they haven’t been able to keep the puck out of the back of the net. They’re 3-5-2 in their last 10 and have a brutal -27 goal differential. That’s never going to be the recipe for success in the NHL, and that’s evident with how bad they’ve been.

James Reimer is in the back of the net tonight, most likely, and that’s not ideal. Although he has a near 90% save percentage, he’s given up more than 3.2 goals per game and is 7-12-3. However, it might not be all of his fault as San Jose simply allows way too many shots on goal. If they can limit shots here, perhaps they have a chance.

Despite their horrible play this season, Erik Karlsson has been on an absolute tear all season. He comes in with the seventh most points in hockey with an impressive 55 points. Sadly, it hasn’t helped San Jose as he still has a negative +/-.

Sharks vs. Kings Prediction

Due to the moneyline being as high as it is, it might not be a bad idea to take Los Angeles with the 60-minute line. The odds for that sit at -135, which are more than good enough to play. Los Angeles should take care of business in regulation on Wednesday night.
