Rockies vs. Phillies Betting Prediction

The Philadelphia Phillies and Colorado Rockies are set to continue their four-game series with one another on Tuesday. After beating the Rockies 8-2 on Monday, the Phillies are favored with a -170 moneyline to win on Tuesday, while Colorado’s moneyline is set at +145. There is also an over/under of eight runs.

Despite Monday’s win, the Phillies find themselves three games under .500 at the moment. Philly has lost four consecutive series, including a series at Coors Field last week. However, with three wins in their last five games, the Phillies might be starting to turn things around.

As for the Rockies, they are four games over .500 despite losing on Monday. Of course, the Rockies also have a negative run differential on the season and are still two games off the pace in the NL West. But they are 6-4 over their last 10 games and hoping to bounce back quickly from Monday’s loss.

The Marque Man

Colorado ace German Marquez will get the start on Monday, although he’s not looked the part of an ace early in the season. Marquez was brilliant in his first start of the season, only to give up eight runs on 18 hits over his last 10.1 innings, causing his ERA to jump up to 4.67. While he took a no-decision when he faced the Phillies last week, the Rockies lost the game, and Marquez gave up three home runs.

With eight runs on Monday, the dangerous Philly lineup might be finally coming alive this season. Nick Castellanos and J.T. Realmuto are both hitting over .300, although the rest of the heavy hitters in the Philly lineup have been a little sluggish thus far. That being said, Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper have been home run threats, making the Phillies a tough lineup to traverse.

The Zach Attack

Zach Eflin will make his fourth start of the season on Tuesday. Eflin is yet to record a win this season, although he has pitched to a solid 3.95 ERA over his first three starts. That includes a game against the Rockies last week in which he struck out five over 5.2 innings, and only two of the four runs he allowed were earned.

Meanwhile, the Rockies are averaging 4.6 runs per game on the season but only 2.8 runs per game during their current road trip. Kris Bryant is yet to hit a home run, failing to make the kind of impact in the middle of the order the Rox envisioned when they signed him. However, Connor Joe and C.J. Cron have made surprising contributions, combining for 10 home runs and 23 RBIs over the team’s first 16 games.

On the Rox

While the Phillies are heavy favorites in this game, they don’t have a huge edge in the starting pitching department despite Marquez having trouble during his career against most of Philadelphia’s best hitters.

Overall, the Rockies have been the better team this season, with Philly struggling to string wins together. Even though the Phillies winning is more likely, the Rockies hold a lot of value with a +145 moneyline, perhaps making it worth the risk.
