Pittsburgh Penguins vs San Jose Sharks Betting Preview

We have one of the top NHL games of the night as the Pittsburgh Penguins will take on the San Jose Sharks. Pittsburgh has been playing great hockey this season, with 61 points on the year and a 26-17-9 record. However, they’ve struggled a bit throughout their past few games, and that could be something to look out for here.

San Jose is going to be coming into this one playing below-average hockey, but they’ve also found ways to win games against some high-level teams, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see them come away with the win.

Pittsburgh comes into this one at – 155 on the moneyline.

Will the Penguins Win out West?

The Penguins will have a tougher task on hand than many people are realizing, including the sportsbooks. The reason for saying that is because playing on the West Coast at 10:30 p.m. For an Eastern Conference team is not an easy task.

Furthermore, Pittsburgh has been on a long road trip as this is going to be their third game out west. They started it more than four days ago and lost 6-0 in their second game on that road trip against the Los Angeles Kings.

If they want any chance of winning this game, they obviously need to be much better in the back of the net and on the defensive side of the puck. The Kings are an above-average team, but giving up six goals to any team in hockey is always going to be inexcusable.

The one thing that’s going to work for Pittsburgh here is certainly their attack. They come into this one scoring at least six goals in two of their last six games, which is one of the more impressive offensive numbers that we can find around the league at the moment.

Can the Sharks Beat Pittsburgh Again?

The Sharks come into this one as arguably the worst team in the Western Conference this season. They have just 45 points, which sees them with the fourth fewest points in the West. They’ve won four games in their last 10, which is a bit better for a team that’s struggled like them.

However, they’re coming off an impressive 4-1 win against the Washington Capitals and the Tampa Bay Lightning just two games before that. If they can come out and find a way to continue replicating this type of success, they should be in for a good matchup here.

They took on the Penguins at the end of January and ended up scoring six goals in that game. Scoring six goals again doesn’t seem likely for the Sharks, but they have enough to get the job done.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs San Jose Sharks Prediction

Due to the Sharks beating the Penguins earlier in the season just a few weeks ago on Pittsburgh’s home ice, it feels safe to say that the Penguins should come out here and try to look for some revenge. Because of that, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to take them on the moneyline at -155. This game is going to be interesting, but the Penguins should be able to come away with a tight win.
