In the Red River Rivalry on Saturday, the Oklahoma Sooners will take on the Texas Longhorns. This game features the 12th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners and 3rd-ranked Texas Longhorns. This game will be played at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas and will be aired on ABC.
The Sooners are looking to get revenge on the 49-0 beatdown they took a season ago by the Longhorns. This will be the final game between these two teams as members of the Big 12.
Both teams will head to the SEC next season. Oklahoma is +6.5 underdog in this game against Texas.
Sarkisian has Longhorns Seeking National Title
It’s safe to say that the Texas Longhorns are back. They are back in the national title picture heading into Week 6 of the season.
A win here would go a long way, as the Longhorns do not have another team currently ranked inside the Top 25 on their schedule. The Longhorns are tied with the Sooners and West Virginia at the top of the conference standings.
Texas is winning games with their ability to score and their excellent defense. The Longhorns are allowing teams to score less than 13 points per game.
On the offensive side, Quinn Ewers as the quarterback has been sensational. He is helping the Longhorns average over 286 yards per game via the air. Xavier Worthy is his top target, leading the team with three touchdowns and over 340 yards.
Jonathan Brooks averages over 100 yards per game and has five touchdowns on the season.
Oklahoma Led by Gabriel’s Fantastic Season
Dillon Gabriel is not getting a ton of discussion when it comes to the Heisman Trophy in 2023. Gabriel is undoubtedly a front runner – outside of a pair of Pac-12 quarterbacks and probably his opponent in this game. The quarterback has thrown the football 157 times for 1,593 yards and 15 touchdowns. Gabriel has thrown two interceptions on the season.
Marcus Major leads the team with 51 carries on the ground. He has just shy of 200 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown leader is Gabriel, with four on the ground. When passing the football, the Sooners get Andrel Anthony, Jalil Garooq, and Nic Anderson involved. They combine for nearly 1,000 yards and have eight touchdowns via the pass.
The Sooners will take next week off before remaining home to take on Central Florida. The two weeks after that, the Sooners go on the road to Kansas and Oklahoma State.
Sooners Cover the Spread
