Cubs Need To Find Offense

The Cubs are one of the highest scoring teams in baseball, but the Cardinals have kept the Cubs under wraps this series. Javier Baez has his a homer in each game for the Cubs, but Chicago must get more production from their entire lineup if they are going to avoid the sweep. The Cubs will be without former MVP, Kris Bryant, again on Sunday.

Veteran righty, Kyle Hendricks, will take the ball for the Cubs on Sunday night. Hendricks has struggled for much of 2018, but has traditionally pitched better in the second half of the season. Hendricks is just 6-9 with a 4.05 earned run average for the Cubs this season. He will look to cool down a red hot Cardinals lineup in the series finale.

Gant Takes Ball For Cards

Young right hander, John Gant, will start for the Cardinals on Sunday night. Gant will be making his eighth start of the season on Sunday night, and has pitched well for the Cardinals of late. The former Atlanta Brave is 3-3 with a 3.44 earned run average this season. He will be in for a tough test against the Cubs on Sunday.

The Cardinals offense has done a ton of damage against the Cubs pitchers this weekend. On Saturday, the Cardinals broke out for six runs in the 1st inning against Jose Quintana. Outfielder, Marcell Ozuna, had the huge blow of the game, hitting a grand slam to end his own mini power slump. The Cardinals offense looks to stay hot and complete the sweep on Sunday night.

Hendricks, Cubs Win Series Finale

The Cardinals appear to be turning their season around interim manager, Mike Schildt. St. Louis still has plenty of work to do, but are a real threat to reach the playoffs in 2018. A win over the Cubs on Sunday would provide a huge jolt of confidence in the Cardinals clubhouse.

The Chicago Cubs have struggled coming out of the All-Star Break. Chicago has put together terrific second halves of seasons under manager Joe Maddon, but their starting pitching is holding them back in a big way this season. The Cubs need Kyle Hendricks to step up for them on Sunday night, and he will. Bet the Chicago Cubs -112 over the St. Louis Cardinals in the series finale.
