New York Mets at Arizona Diamondbacks Betting Preview

The New York Mets will start a three-game series at Chase Field in Phoenix, taking on the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Mets are 38-46 on the season, which is fourth in the National League East. The Mets are coming off back-to-back wins at home over the San Francisco Giants. For the Arizona Diamondbacks, they lead the National League West with their 50-35 record. Arizona is coming off a loss on the road at the Angels on Sunday.

The New York Mets are favorites on the road in this one. The Mets are listed at -115, while Arizona comes in at -105. The total for this game is at 9 runs.

Senga Looks to Win his 7th

The Mets will send Kodai Senga to the mound in this one. In his last start, he picked up a no-decision against the Brewers on June 28th. In that game, he struck out 8 batters and walked 2. The Brewers eventually beat the Mets 5-2 in the game. Senga is 6-5 on the season, with a 3.53 earned run average on the season.

New York, despite being 8 games under .500, is -12 in run differential this season. Compare that to Cleveland in the American League, who is -8; they are just a single game under .500. Also, Milwaukee in the NL Central is -16, and 6 games over .500.  So, the Mets hope their fortunes change as the second half rolls along.

Mets slugger Pete Alonso was announced as an All-Star reserve. The Polar Bear hit a two-run home run in the win on Sunday to help the Mets win their first series in a month. For Alonso, it is his third trip to the All-Star game. The slugger leads the team with 25 home runs and 58 runs batted in.

Carroll Headlines All-Star Roster

Rookie Corbin Carroll was named to the National League All-Star team, along with Lourdes Gurriel. Pitcher Zac Gallen also made the team as well. For Carroll, he is having a fantastic rookie season, leading with a .289 batting average and 17 home runs. Christian Walker has also been sensational for Arizona, with 16 home runs and 54 runs batted in.

For the Diamondbacks, they will look to send Zach Davies to the mound. Davies is 30 years old and from Washington. The 180-pound righthander has struggled this season, with just 1 win and 4 losses and an ERA of 6.54. Despite his numbers, Davies was really sharp in his last start, going 7 scoreless innings against the Rays.

Mets Win Third Straight

While Arizona is having a fantastic season, many wonder if they can outlast the long season. The Mets know they are going to have to start playing better baseball, get hot, and do it quickly. Look for Senga to throw well and New York’s offense to get after Davies here. Betting the Mets on the road has been a dangerous task this season, but that’s the plan here. Take New York -115 at Arizona on Tuesday.
